G87 M2 - track safety devices

Hey Guys,

Does anyone have experience with installing 6-point harnesses on their factory carbon buckets? It seems like they're fit for them, but it's not clear and there isn't much info online. Which rollbar works best with the G87 for harness mounting? Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I've looked into this and I don't think there are any 6-point options with the factory carbon buckets.. best I could source was a 4-point that either uses factory seatbelt locations, or half cage/ harness bar.. I'm using the Schroth QuickFit Pro 4-point from the E92 M3, because I still occasionally use the rear seats for my kids, so can't install a cage or harness bar.

If you are using a quickfit pro you just need to buy the crotch strap & you will have a 6 point.
The quickfit pro already has the slot in the rotary buckle to upgrade to a 6 point.
You will obviously need to have the seat base modified (cut & sewn) to suit (if the silly carbon insert piece is removable that may be an option).

yes, they do have the allowance for the addition of sub straps to make them 6-point, but that would mean cutting the factory carbon buckets to make it work.. think I would rather install aftermarket buckets if I get more serious with track duties

I would be wary of that setup. Schroth told me not to use their quikfit pros in the M2. IIRC, the angle of the rear straps is too steep which could result in severe injury.

It's the same angle and install points as approved for the E92 M3, only difference is the G8X carbon buckets which are yet to be tested by Schroth, hence why not released specifically for G8X. I've taken that risk as the only option on-market that clips in and out easily, without installing a roll cage/ harness bar that renders the rear seats useless.

they're also approved for the cobra nagaro and recaro pole positions so gave me more confidence, considering the closer designs to the G8X carbon buckets
