BMW Corp kicked back our M4 3.0 CSL request, again. So I think i'm out of luck lol. Might go with the Black Forest Industries route if I want one.

Good news and bad news!
Finally… It’s available to buy! But… at 3372.27 Euros I think I’ll hold off for now. Who wants to take the plunge?

How is there still not an upgraded m performance knob for g80x. Waited this long , looks like the f87 shifter is discontinued so the price has come down About 220 most places for the alc/cf one….im sure I’ll buy it and they will finally release the upgraded version lol

Finally pulled the trigger and went with the Black Forest Industries in the blue air leather with matching boot. Pretty excited to add some color to the interior that will match the blue stitching.

Edit: Forgot to ask, how did you end up connecting the boot collar to the base of the knob? |

I did change back from the aluminum one to the carbon/alcantara, didn't think I could handle the heat in summer and glad I did. |

After I installed the carbon/alcantara MP knob, I decided to try out the BFI knob. Mine arrived yesterday, ~1 month from ordering.
It is very nice in terms of finish and feel, however, I also noticed that BFI has changed the lower-half design, it is no longer a 2-piece since March/April this year (different manufacturing). Picture of the threaded piece was the original design which can be routed through the boot from the underside. What this means - with the current design, one cannot just reuse the stock boot as is without removing a plastic collar fused from the inside of the boot at the factory. Since I didn't want to butcher the factory boot as I need that to mate to the MP knob, I will be begrudgingly returning the BFI and eat the restocking fee. |

You are correct if the lower portion of the knob is of the current style (it is not threaded and screwed together like the original style, see picture below), the lower half (portion below the leather) is machined in one piece with flanges and all, so one would have to discard the nylon ring at the collar of the boot for the mount to pass through, or use an entirely different boot, in that case, one would need to reuse the boot frame from the OEM boot.
