How long did the install take? Was it pretty straightforward?

Like 30mins or so. Easier to put car on a lift so you can access all the bolts. Have to remove a couple deflector pieces on front edge of the oil cooler. Overall pretty easy though.

straightforward. We did the install on the Mishimoto skid plate; it's almost the same as the MAD, and it took less than 30 minutes.

here is the video if you need help with installation

The main difference in our install is that we use two CNC-machined spacers and larger diameter bolts, whereas their design integrates the spacer directly, as indicated by the two squares in the video photo above.

Hey MAD team,

Sorry if it was asked before but any plan for a G42 skid plate?

I am planning to lower my car next spring and I will need a skid plate for peace of mind at the same time for my G42 ZTK.

The only offering right now is more expensive and yours seem very well made so good price/value do sure.

Thanks

Hey MAD,

I see on the website the next release is expected 11/19. If we preorder now, is there a chance we won't get fulfilled for the 11/19 release and might get pushed back to the next batch that comes in, say 12/15 for example or are you guaranteed to get one on the next release (11/19)?

So I got my skid plate and am very happy with the quality. It looks like it came with 8 screws (8 or 10mm?...not counting the long bolts and spacers). Do they got one the back end of the skid plate and the OEM 10mms go on the 7 holes in the front end?

The 8 go in the rear plus the two spacers and bolts.

As long as you can reach those back screws you should be able to.

Put mine on last night. The only thing that cost is 5 min of time and a bit of internet searching: you have to reuse the plastic clips off the OEM plastic “covering”. These clips are what the 8 fasteners actually thread into. We didn’t realize this at first and took a few minutes troubleshooting.

Other than that, install is very straightforward. Oh also, the front of the skid plate has to slide under the front lip of the car.

I did not take enough pics for a full DIY but I used this thread with other people’s pics to help so adding comments here in case it helps others in the future.

Yes, those clips are needed otherwise there is nothing to screw into.

Glad you got it all figured out and bolted in. You can rest easy now.

Are you referring to the white plastic looking things found on the front end of the OEM shield? I have seen some videos of guys taking the OEM shield off and there are white clips that they say they have to transfer over to their new skid plate.

Ronin76 yup those are the exact pieces I’m referring to. That plastic piece is what the hardware threads into.
