several recent post about the 1500’s. recently installed mine and yes brake dust is significantly better. night and day.
but my experience is they feel completely different than stock pads which i would say had great brake feel and performance. my brake pressure is significantly harder to get the same stopping power on the street compared to stocks. i havent had any hard stops yet and probably worried as i am not confident yet how they react and pressure needed i am not impressed with their performance and weighing the benefits of the reduced brake dust. it’s interesting that many say they feel compiler to stock. i am having a completely different experience. i believe there are a couple other forum members feeling the same as me but majority think they are fine. i will probably switch out the 2000’s |

Brake pads need to deposit the material they are made of onto the surface of the brake rotor. For some pads bedding is more important than others. Whenever you are switching pad compounds its pretty important. First you should see if there is a manufacturer suggested process. Best done at night when you can get some space with nobody around, and should all be done in quick succession as the goal is to get everything nice and hot. Get the car to 35-40mph, medium-hard stop to 5mph, never to zero. Repeat 4x Get the car to 50-55mph, full pedal down to 5mph, repeat 4x Drive for at least 15 minutes after to cool things down. Done. Does not need to be repeated if retaining the same compond.

Bedding procedure is somewhat dependent on manufacturer and pads. In some cases I’ve had to do 10x 130km/h to 10km/h (80mph to 5mph) stops in a 5 minute period to get proper pad transfer with a particularly aggressive pad, on the other hand for some street pads the manufacturers specifically state only gentle braking for the first 500 km / 300 miles.

The stock pads are metallic and metallic always has better bite and stopping power and overheat/brake fade resistance. Doesn’t surprise me at all that a low dust pad doesn’t stop as good as the oem pads. Will get even worse if you start pushing the brakes hard. It’s the only thing that has stopped me from switching to low dust pads I can’t stand brake dust . As long as brake dust is more important than performance and you don’t push your car hard or mind swapping pads when you go to the track it’s not too big of a deal.

More comments from the peanut gallery who haven't actually tried isweep 1500 pads... so bizarre.
They don't bite quite as hard as oem metallics, but there is no lack of stopping power or a significant feeling of difference in braking performance.

I find this thread to be rather interesting. I got the is2000 or 2500, don’t remember. The ones above the 1500’s on my g80 m3. And they felt identical to stock to me.
Maybe the 1500’s are different but the ones above those are exactly like OEM. ISweeps are probably the most popular brake pad on the m3 forum. Many of the otherwise well know brands rattled, squeeled, moved around, etc. And or did not help dust that much. Go read the m3 forums for real reviews from people who actually tried them. They are literally all over the m3 forum. I’ll be putting the 2000’s on mine ASAP. Those feel 100% identical to me. With 75% less dust too. They have been in the vw/audi world for 25+yrs. You’ll see them all over those forums too. https://isweep-tuning.com/aboutus/index.html

is2000s have the same or better cold bite than stock. This is reported heavily. There is ZERO downsides to the is2000s for street driving. The is1500s have slightly less initial cold bite than stock. Some people can’t tell a difference.
I have the is2000s and they’re awesome and I’m super anal about braking performance over dust. I run EBC Yellows on 2 other vehicles and they dust like crazy, but their performance is worth it. I wish I could find iSweeps for them, dammit.
