Unhappy Let's talk about rattles and squeaks. help

I was lucky and got the G87 HEA in early April. The interior started to have squeaks and rattles after about 1,000 miles.
I would enjoy and love my G87 (14,500 miles now ) if the interior didn't rattle and squeak. I have been to the dealer twice to address the passenger side C and B pillars. The second visit was to the driver's side C pillar. I have seriously considered selling the G87 several times because of the rattles. Please tell me which tools to use to remove my door and the B pillar correctly. TRIM tools, a door pryer, a moving blanket, and a T20? Do I need to swap out the clips to have a tighter fit? I am thinking of dynamiting the door or something. Dealers refused to do more rattle and squeak repairs as I passed the warranty. ( Canadian thing ) My driver's door rattles badly when you drive through uneven terrain or bumps. You can hear the same noise as you lightly press the door here and there with your fingertips like something is loose. It is super annoying and makes me hate the G87 or afraid to drive it because who wants to listen to that crap? My G87 has so many rattles and squeaks. It is hard to believe.

Suppose anyone has a DIY guide from the G80 forum or something. I would remove all the interior pieces and apply whatever 3M adhesive or dynamic would quieten it down. I don't feel good, I don't want to sell the car because nothing beats the G87 regarding price and value. Please help me quiet down the ride so I can start to mod my BSM.

Yeah, I've never had a BMW squeak on me, including my now 13 year old e90. My g87 so far is dead silent.

Get them to fix it.

Canadian dealers only cover up to 20,000km for rattles and squeaks. I already passed that. I guess I can pay them labor for the same repair. But all they do is take it apart and apply 3M strips around the panels. I think this is not the car for me then. I owned over ten M cars and this G87 is the worst. I have never noticed any rattles in my F87s. I guess I am just unlucky.

Rattling is usually easy to fix...you just need to identify the source...be careful and patient...it is not hidden.

I worked as a tech some many years back. Once the affected trim is identified, we use a kit with foam pieces (think female makeup wedges) to place between the trim upon re-installation - this way, it added pressure to clips and any wiggle a trim might be having when the body flexes

Not that it has any relevance with the G87, but...My F30 squeaked and rattled like crazy but my F87 is solid as a rock.

Must be the luck of the draw.

I had one that was really bad over bumps. It ended up being the license plate frame that the dealer slapped on. I took off their frame (no more free advertisement, sorry fellas), put a silicone frame around my plate (from Amazon), and attached it with all four screws. No more rattle.

I've got some crazy rattles coming from the B pillar on my Z4, M2, and X4. It only happens sometimes and only on uneven surfaces. I've been to the dealer countless times, but they can't seem to fix it. I'm about to give up and sell the cars at this point.

For those that go to the dealer for issues like this, I am assuming you trust dealerships removing trim/panels? If I had this issue and went to the dealer, I would be terrified of the fit and finish after someone has popped panels to track down a squeak or rattle. Maybe I am just paranoid but every time I have ever taken panels off the dash of a car to do anything, I have been terrified of all the plastics that are used to snap things together. In my mind these snaps/clips only get weaker when you have to pop them off and put them back in place.

I also got a HEA car back in April and now have about 10k miles and *knock on wood* mine has been pretty quiet so far. I would continue to take the car in if it is an easy to replicate sound.

I've taken many interior panels off in my day and it's almost impossible not to break at least one in the process.

Yes, I'd be worried. The rational side of me thinks, well, those pieces are probably universal and also likely stocked in the service department so they could replace them easily.

Yeah but then you are at the mercy of an honorable tech. My pessimistic side would think that if a tech snaps one clip on an expensive carbon trim piece that they are more likely to just put it back in place (since one clip probably isn't going to stop it from being mounted) rather than having to get a likely $1,000+ trim piece replacement.

I'm 500 miles in and there's a rattle that's developed somewhere over my right shoulder (UK, so RHD). Thing is, it doesn't happen all the time, only on particularly bad stretches of road - not helped by the stiff chassis & short wheelbase I guess.

It sounds like it's either the rear passenger side panel, or maybe the shelf under the back window. I'll need to get someone to sit in the back and try and pinpoint it. The fact that it doesn't rattle all the time, and not even all the time on rough surfaces is frustrating.

Had a G01 X3 and F31 before that with not a rattle or squeak in years of ownership...
