20x10 rears with oem 285s. Thoughts?

I want to use oem tire sizes (great values on marketplace etc when it’s time to replace them) but don’t dig the 285 stretch on the 20x11 offerings. So with 275 19x10s on the front, is 285 on a 20x10 rear a good option? This would be 100% street. I have no interest in growing to 295s or 305s.
Thanks. Rick in de

So you want to stick with the stock tire sizes, but go with a 1/2 wider front wheel and a 1/2 narrower rear wheel ( stock fronts are 19 x 9.5 and rears are 20 x 10.5 )?

Yeah just for street. I’m not digging oem 285s on the 11” wheels. APEX told me it will be fine.

No thats not a good idea, thats a step backwards. You are spending money for the wheels get the proper sizing. A 285 will work, but I would look at it as temporary and then move up to the 295s. To be honest with a 19X10 and and 20X11 you should be running 285/35/19s front and 305/30/20 out back. Regardless a 275 is a nice fit on a 10" wide wheel, if you didn't want the added expense (who does?) of getting new front tires. Don't spend money on wheels and go backwards on the sizing.

Street performance, is a 285 oem rear tire going to perform better stretched on a 11” wheel or on a 10” wheel?
Is a 21lb 10” wheel going to perform better than a 32lb 10.5” wheel? Doesn’t feel like going backwards to me.
Will a rear 285/30/20 on a 10” wheel perform better than APEX square set up with rear 275/35/19 on a 10” wheel?

My point is if you are going through the expense of new wheels, why go backwards. After the wheel purchase you can always move on to better and more aggressive rubber. Its your money you obviously do what you want. I would always go as wide as possible.

for 100% street, what you are proposing will be perfectly fine. there is no advantage to going up in tire size to fit 11's. what you are planning is not "going backwards". wider is not better.

That is the route I will be going…285/35/19 on a 10” wheel and 305/30/20 on an 11” wheel.

My interest in keeping oem sizes is the 60 cents on the dollar take offs available all over (here, Facebook, c list etc).
500 mile P zeros for $800 get me excited.
My plan for track and snow are one set of square APEX 19x10/et12s, swapped every season.

I totally get it...unfortunately I got the Yokos and finding spares for them is tough.
