Not enough power to charge a phone?

I tried plugging in my regular iphone 13 into the cupholder USB charge port but didn't see any charging activity...is it a defective cable or are the USB-A just not compatible with charging the iphone 13? (I haven't tried the center console yet...looking for a usb-c charging cable at work)

my phone charges just fine from that port, but its a Pixel. Not sure why the brand would matter, well except Apple...always an issue although I'm typing this on a Macbook so I'm not an apple hater. I do normally use the port in the center armwrest. I have a usb stick with music in that cupholder port.

I don't charge my iPhone while in the car but a frequent passenger charges her iPhone (SE I think) using the cupholder USB connection.

Thus I agree with others: Check the cable.
