I've been experiencing this strange noise recently and I know it's related to the AC because it only ever happens after it's been in use and I shut off either the car or just the AC itself. The other problem is that it happens randomly. Commonly it will occur after prolonged use of the AC but even that's not a guarantee. I took it to BMW but they couldn't find an issue and couldn't recreate it so they returned the car to me. Has anyone else experienced this?

Had the same problem recently. I recorded the sound and took it to the dealer. It is a defective expansion valve in the AC. Repaired in one day.

So I took it to 2 other dealers and they both said the same thing. They couldn't recreate the issue and even with the video, if they can't then BMW won't approve it for the repair/replacement. I'm not sure what else to do about this
