Will MY2026 really be worse than MY2025? Do I need to hurry?

I’ve read in various posts on this forum that certain things will take effect with the MY2026 (non-competition) that may not be favorable. Some things I’ve heard:

-the horsepower will decrease slightly
-price increase due to possible tarrifs
-always a chance manual option will be nixed

Amongst other claims.

How much of this do we know for a fact is true? I’m still aiming for a 2025 model but not trying to stress myself out with pressure of organizing finances and taking money out of investments prematurely if I don’t have to.

What have you heard?

in order:

1. there will be no competition model for the M2 or any M car going forward
2. have not heard a single rumor of less power (they just increased it for 25, why would it go back?)
3. price will probably go up next year. it always does. tariffs may happen, who knows.
4. yes, there is always a chance the manual will be nixed. an insider posited a theory that the 6 speed will die when the G80 goes out of production and there will only be a x drive auto M2 model for sale. however, since BMW has since confirmed that there will be an ICE G84 (next gen M3), and there may even be a manual for it, its really hard to pin down. the reality is BMW can and will change plans if people vote with their wallet.

don't stress bro. worst case, there will be a ton of used G87s in the market. they've proven robust so far and the S58 has been very reliable.

Panic buying happens whenever there is a whif of a new update…I would not worry, unless you really want the MY25.

If tariffs do indeed happen, we will have much more to worry about, but I also suspect it will even itself out. Tariff wars is a quick race to the bottom for all.

ICE is here to stay in the near-medium term. So many manufacturers realize EV is not the way to go and customer response has been brutal. Likewise, BMW M also have said they want to keep the manual alive and why not just for the baby M model.
