Autocrossing a G42 M240ix

First time doing any (sanctioned) performance driving in my own car. Decided to do autocross because I suck and don't want to total my daily on a track. Anyways, I thought it was super understeery in corner entry, but overall a lot of fun. Might be because I didn't get the tire package and only have 225 fronts. Anyone else do any kind of racing?

Feeling is similar. My daily driver, so I do not want to track it. Plus never done anything like that before. The autocross is something I would like to do/try.

If you are on the runflat all seasons then that is most certainly your handling issue.

I did a short circuit with mine, not autoX yet, although I did a session of autoX in my F22. The feelings on both cars are similar to yours, lots of understeer on corner entry, but you can step the back out easily with liberal throttle and the nannies off. In fact, I did a slide around a big left hand corner, the whole way, by accident LOL. I thought the back end would have stayed in line under the circumstances, so it is tail happy.

I am on the ZTK tires (245 PS4S fronts), but it does still plow. It's a heavy car, no getting around that.

Watching your videos, based on the sound of the tires and the amount of plow, you are going into the corners really fast. Proper speed on corner entry will yield better turn in and handling, meaning faster lap times.

I autocrossed mine a few times. Agree with the 225s not helping things. I got some Apex wheels and am gonna try running 255s or 265s next year. Maybe I'll get coilovers but I want to keep the EDC and there's limited options available it seems....

Here's my last run of the season, this is on Yoko Advan V601 summer tires:

I switched to Michelin PS4S but kept stock tire sizes and stock wheels

This is true as I was over driving a lot on the last few runs to limit test the car since the competition runs were over. However, I felt like the front of the car just did not want to rotate no matter how much trail braking I tried to apply

Awesome course and so many fast corners

Wish we had more space around here

I regularly autocross my RWD G42. In fact, I specced out the car with the full intent of autocrossing it, so I got the ZTK package and RWD to help with understeer. So far, I'm very happy with it. But even on PS4S, I won't be competitive. RE-71RS tires are required to get the best times. That, and a whole lot of skill if you're in a reasonably sized club.

I've only had my G42 for 4 months, so nothing with it yet. But I tracked my X1 and 86 with NASA Rocky Mountain and will definitely take this one out at least once or twice.

Last X1 Track Day:
