BMW M Drive Experience - Sydney

I was fortunate to have received an invitation to attend an M Day Drive Experience at Sydney Motorpark (Eastern Creek race circuit) last Tuesday.

There were 3 BMW's for participants use, the X3 M40, the M2 (auto only) and the M3 (sedan and wagon).

Initially we entered the track in the X3 following a very gifted and talented instructor. The X3 was continually achieving 180kph (115mph) down the straight. The X3 was a very fast and capable SUV, the engine was much better than the (gen 3) Macan S I had previously owned.

Next car was the M2 with automatic transmission. The M2 was an excellent experience achieving 215 kph (130 mph) down the straight, no doubt the automatic is a much better fit for track day usage. The M2's handling at high speed remained rock solid as was the performance of the brakes.

The final car I used that day was the M3 Touring (station wagon) with carbon buckets. This car was nothing short of astonishing, the car continually reached speeds of over 220 kph (140 mph). The carbon bucket seats were a little difficult to get in and out of...but, having said that they are supremely comfortable and arguably worth every penny.

We spent some time on a skid pan in the M3 sedan and that was hilarious....instructors no doubt have a quiet laugh at our ham fisted attempts to duplicate their driving perfection.

All in all, I can highly recommend this exemplarily drive experience...truly priceless.

Nice review mate..
I was also invited to this event, but unfortunately due to a back injury couldnt attend.
Good News is that I finally pick up up my G87 LCI tomorrow from dealer after some delays at the port.
Cheers

Sorry to hear about the back injury.

Congrats with the new G87, I have had mine for the past 14 months and must say it has well and truly surpassed my expectations, a truly great car at a relatively reasonable price.

Cheers
