Need suggestions for a phone mount

I just recently bought a 2023 M240i xDrive after coming from a 2020 C43 where the company ProClip made one specifically for that vehicle and it fit really well and did not look too out of place but, they do not have one for the G series. I am going to be installing a JB4 in the next few weeks to a month and like having my phone able to be seen easily for my temps, boost, etc. I do not want to be required to purchase a case or some weird attachment; I want to just use Magsafe, and it does not have to be capable of charging. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I’ve been debating on dropping the money on a Rennline, but I have not since the price.

Is this going to work well with the G42? I see this is using a iDrive 7 model?

Not 100% sure I hadn’t emailed them to confirm if this one does or if that had a different one. I have been overly picky on this as I don’t want something that sticks or covers the ac vents or attaches to the screen.

I will be testing this one later today. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Will go upmarket later on but for $12 I will see how this version goes. Vent mount is good for being able to take it down and it has a stick on low profile mount that should be good if I can find a spot.

I am in the exact same. I was wondering if I could DIY something to fit under the screen and stick on a little magsafe attachment, I have seen really minimalistic ones on amazon. Again, I really would only use this for JB4 monitoring once I have it installed next month.

I tried the one I posted above.

For the LCI vents it cannot attach to the middle vents because there is no horizontal bar to grab. It works very well on the vent left of the steering wheel. (Pictured)

I did not find a spot where I liked the adhesive mount ability. Mostly because there are very few compatible surfaces to adhere to. If you had to adhere it, I found the best spot I could in the pictures.

My case has actual magnets in it, so attaching to this mount is WAY too strong, I can barely get the phone off. So I will be looking for another mount and ordered a peak designs VHB to try next. I hear their magnets are weaker.

Why not just use the phone tray in the center?

I think they want to see their phone while driving. For JB4 monitoring, etc.
I had the JB4 magnetic phone mount from my previous car but couldn't find a place to mount it in the G42.

Now I rest my phone like this.

This. I like having the phone slightly higher, so I do not have to look down to the cup holder to see info on it. Just feels safer. I should be getting my mount I listed above in a few days and will update once I receive it. I do like how the other person showed the vent on the left. Did not really think about going to the left side of the steering wheel.

I am running this with my ID7 and i love it.

I got a ball mount made for the G42/G20 ID7 screen from AliExpress and i got a Magsafe charger with a Magsafe ball attachment from Spigen that i had previously that came as part of an air vent mount.

I was able to find something similar to fit your ID8 dash:
