235 Square vs 225/255 Stagger (797M)
Hey everyone, I found a great deal on a "used" 2024 M240i xDrive in the color I wanted while shopping for a new one so I jumped on it. It came with the Turanza RFTs, which I'm planning to replace with DWS06+. I currently have the 797m wheels in 8" square setup.
What are the pros and cons of going with 8.5" wheels out back and the 225-255 setup over a squared 235/40R19 size? Launch control already doesn't spin the RFTs off the line and when I do a little corner carving, I assume the 235 squared setup would feel a little more neutral. I'm not worried about the cost of the two 8.5" wheels. Am I missing anything? Not sure why BMW didn't put 235s on an 8" wheel to begin with. |

Just get 245/35/19, square. (If you want oem sidewall height)
I went 245/40/19 for my winter setup and it's working great so far, doesnt look noticeably lifted. The reason oem stagger is 225/40/19 and 255/35/19 is to achieve equal rolling diameters. Can't be done with 235.

245 on 8.5 is basically directly vertically aligned, 245 is rated to fit 8in wheel, I don't think it will look bad. (6mm more overhang per side)
The way I think about it, performance fitment is 255 rear, you should get as close to 255 as you can, but still run square which is 245.

19x8.5 et 25 is the oem front ztk fitment.
Oem ztk rear is 19x9.5 et 38 which equals 19x8.5 et 25 in outer edge position. You could fit wider wheels but I didn't want to for winters.
