Software 07/2024.30 Not Installing

About 10-days ago I received a notice through the MyBWM app that a new version, 07/2024.30 of the car software was available for download. I followed the steps, downloaded the software to my iPhone, and then transferred the software to my 2022 M240iX.

The message on the iDrive screen now states, "The upload for you BMW M240i xDrice was completed successfully. ... The installation can only be performed while parked and takes approx. 20-30 minutes. You cannot use your vehicle during this time."

So, that was about 10-days ago. The software installation has still not begun even though the car has been parked for extended periods (both inside and outside).

Is there a way to force the start of the installtion process? Thanks.

you need to manually start the update. when you turn off your car, do not open your door and look at the infotainment screen. there will be an option to start the update. if you do not see a message, you might need to manually do it through your BMW app on your phone or through settings on your infotainment (you might need the parking brake on). I suggest that after you start the update, make sure all the windows are up and doors are closed, then lock your car (if you already do not)

New update does not bring much "new".

I apologize if I am just being dense here, but when I turn off my car and keep the door closed I do not get any option or notification to start the update process on my infotainment screen or the MyBMW app. The message on the car screen continues to say that I "will be notified" when the car is ready to install the update. The MyBMW app continues to indicate that I should follow the instructions in the car. The handbrake setting did not make a difference.

Sheesh.

If theres an update available it should nag you to do it every time you get in the car. The last two had no feature updates and i only did them to make the nags go away. Its annoying to have to redo all bimmercoding with each upgrade.

try going through settings in iDrive and find the software update option. I have the update pop up on my screen whenever I turn off the car but I'm just too lazy to do it since I have to re-do my XHP tune and bimmercode stuff lol. the .30 update is just a HUD update according to the update notes so it's not that important

Just to confirm, this is what I see on my screen. I went through all the steps to get the software loaded on the car. Now it appears I just have to wait for the car to decide to install the new software. How can I force it?
