700hp safe without engine modifications?
As the title says, with approx 700hp, do you need other mods to support your engine? Or is this safe? Can this be achived with just software and downpipes? Or what is also needed? Prefer just pumpgas without Ethanol etc.

Its definitely doable, but you have taken up any safety margin. One hiccup with fuel or timing and it could be disasterous with OEM internals.

For 700 crank you probably only need an unlock and tune with downpipes or maybe even a piggyback. The S58 makes 600 whp pretty easily which is probably around 700 crank.

Up to a point, after that there is a diminishing return. Running straight 100 octane won't give better results than 94-95 octane on the stock tune.

for better fuel to be worth it, you need a tune and map to take advantage of the extra octane

If I was planning on keeping the car long term and trying to get high mileage out of it (100k+) I probably wouldn’t go above 600whp. If it’s not your daily and your only putting a few thousand miles a year on it then I think 700hp is easily doable safely with just down pipes and a tune. Especially if you have access to e85. Obviously it’s going to accelerate the wear on the engine that’s just unavoidable with all that extra power. Luckily the engine comes from the factory really robust. As someone else said though your really eating into margin if you get some bad gas or something or anything goes wrong.

You won't hit 700whp or at the crank without a tune to get 700whp, you will need mods, tune and run an e blend. You cant just throw straight e85 in the tank without a tune and set up for flex fuel or full bore e85 setup. You can run a blend, e30 or e40 with mods and the tune only. |

The engine is super capable, but to achieve 700 to the crank you’ll need to dabble in ethanol unless you have access to super pure 93 octane. To be clear, you do need a tune. You can not achieve that stock at all. But you don’t need a full engine rebuild like the old days to handle that power. The only engine mods I have besides downpipes/catback is a BM3 stage 2 tune OTS, flex fuel sensor, and an intake and I’m pushing around ~700hp with ease with no stress on the engine or fuel pumps after vigorously pushing and testing the car after (compression tests, overall engine/trans check, etc). I currently daily e40 on map2 (91). Last edited by Geighty7; 12-22-2024 at 11:27 AM.. |
