Update wipes out B&W coding?

What gives? Or am I stupid and can’t find the setting anymore

Yep, the software updates clear out any coding you have done. Just have to recode unfortunately.

After the update it was not available under the 2 Series. I had to select M3 to find and apply it.

Basic cat and mouse between BMW / Bimmercode. Not unusual... grateful to be able to code at all. True that 8.5 (for sure 9.0) is locked up?

Sidenote: A macro mode to recode wouldn't be hard for them to add.. probably just a liability.

No cat and mouse, BMW will make changes to the car firmware and config to meet their customer support and bug rectification needs, I don’t think they pay any attention to companies such as Bimmercode or what effect the BMW updates will have on 3rd party config changes.

Mice just want to eat crumbs, with no consideration for the cat.

Cat turns up, doing cat stuff, and the cheese is all the sudden more of a hassle.

Cat and mouse game.

Bimmercode is just an invisible 'mouse' to BMW the 'cat'. Any changes made by Bimmercode will not be taken into consideration by BMW when updates are done, as the car will just be set to the state that BMW requires. There is really no reason BMW should care that they overwrite unsupported changes.

The only way to not expect to have unsupported changes overwritten is to not have updates done.

Well poop the BMW update even resets their own settings, honey badger don't give a sh*t about nobody...you, me, or themselves. I have to reconfigure a bunch of stuff in the boss' X5 after an update, and tell it she wants remote start active again, not just ventilation. That's one of about 8 I have to go back in and change. Rather annoying actually because it's somehow MY fault her car isn't acting as expected and her fanny warmer isn't up to temp when Mrs. Schumacher is ready to take off. Anyhow thanks for the therapy session!

I felt this…

Unrelated: What connection type are you guys/gals using when connection with Enet? I bought an ODB/Enet adapter and everything seems to work (light Ion the adapter) but no dice. I’ve made sure to give BimmerCode LAN access.

Edit: Answered my own question and leaving this for any future readers. The eNet adapter I bought was not compatible with the G-Series. Make sure you double-check approved adapters on the Bimmercode website. Live and learn...

After this last update, I can’t code B&W anymore. The headunit menu in Bimmercode it’s gone for me, and I searched G87 and G80. Don’t know why…

I just got my update. It messed up the MyBMW app, but “updating all apps” option fixed it. I haven’t done the B&W sound profile but do need to find the high beam settings again.

Resurrecting this thread. My new '25 M2 has software version 07/2024.50 on it, which appears to be the most current version.

Using Bimmercode, I cannot see "Head Unit" as an option for coding. Really want to set the sound profile to Bowers & Wilkins, but can't because "Head Unit" is not an option to choose from.

Has anyone found a work-around for this?

I asked bimmercode for my 2025 m240, they said it's all locked down and don't expect it to be unlocked

There is an audio guru on the G80 forums who tested the B&W profile vs the stock profile and it scored lower in whatever test those audio pros use to determine what sounds good.
