I would have used mountain lions, but mountain lion #2 would have just leapt over the barrier.
Every SIB I've seen that shows the Friction Ring installation puts the ring between the hub and rotor plate: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...78996-9999.pdf

I don't think the diagram you linked indicates an area of installation for that wheel disc. If you look at the disc in the diagram, it has a smaller hole that allows the rotor mounting screw to go through the disc. The only reason you would need that hole on the disc is if the disc is meant to be sandwiched between the hub and rotor. Otherwise that screw is flush or slightly recessed into the disc face. If the disc was meant to be used on top of the rotor, it would just have the 5 bolt holes.

I agree that the ring between the wheel and rotor might be more likely to prevent the tick issue, but that isn't something a technician would do when installing the disc at a dealer as part of the service bulletin.

We have seen customers use thin spacers like 3mm between the rotor and wheel to eliminate the noise so a ring between the rotor and wheel might have a similar effect. Your points illustrated by the bears are valid and it could be worth a shot especially if you are DIYing the installation.

If I go with the 19 x 9 et25 and 19x 10 et 38
Will I need to run spacers in the rear? I heard it was really close to the strut with this setup. Also what is the best tire setup ? I was thinking 245/40/19 and 265/35/19 but you guys are the experts. Fyi this is for a rwd model

Hello, looking at your fitment guide page, it says that 285/30/19 and 255/35/19 would be ok for X-DRIVE. But on the tire size calculator it says the difference is 1.13-.15% slightly above 1% recommended difference, would it still be ok for x-drive? Thank you in advance

If you run a 235/40-19 and a 265/35-19 you should have a direct fit on there!

Although these tire sizes are technically not within that 1% rule that people mention, this setup still has a closer diameter to the front and rear than most OEM setups having a 1.4% difference from front to rear.

For 19x9 ET 25 Square setup in Front/Rear 265/35R19, the fitment guide says spacers might be needed for tires that run wide. Do Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and Pilot Cup 2’s run wide or would they be direct fits? How about the Pirelli P Zero line are those wide or normal sized?

We don't have records of which of those sizes need spacers with this setup. I've debated removing this tire size from the guide for the 9" wide altogether as it doesn't provide much of a benefit compared to a 255 section tire as a 265 is really too wide for a 9. you can run it and it fits, but a spacer is sometimes needed and you need to be willing to experiment with a spacer up front depending on your setup. The Cup 2 and pirelli p zero trofeo R both run wide and would likely need spacing help but the other tires on this list might also need it.

If you want to run a 265/35-19, I would recommend running the 9.5" fitment instead. It will better support that tire size and extract more performance from the tires as the wheel width will be more appropriate. More changes are required, but that wheel is the better choice for the wider tire. If you want to prioritize ease of fitment, the 255/35-19 on the 9 ET25 is the way to go.

Installed v5rs with continental extreme contact dws06

245/40/19 front
275/35/19 rear

Really loving this look over the OEM tucked wheels. It gives off an Oem+ look but still stands out.

Handling is much better. Those runflats combined with skinny 225s on the front made the car feel so numb and hesitant on corners but now I am no longer scared of holding speed on turns.
