Thanks for the info. I was/am working with a broker on another M340 when I found this car. The broker said none of his dealers have any available M2, or M3's currently.
Out here the dealers treat any M-cars like they are solid gold. Heck, they don't even want to deal on M340's which is why I started looking in neighboring states. I have 2 payments left on my M340 and was trying to knock out a deal and not have to make them.

Oh and I searched far and wide but happened to find the car I ended up buying at a dealer ~200 miles north in KC MO. But times change. With no market research to back this up with I'd hazard a guess that 5.9% discount ain't bad. Provided the lease terms are reasonable/not inflated. At the risk of telling you what you already know there's the selling price and any discount. But be sure you look over the lease details. Money factor, residual value, miles, all that go into a lease. You can search far and wide to see what deal might be available. I search globally but like to buy locally or as near to local as I can get. The most distant car purchase was a MINI JCW I bought 873 miles away from a dealer in Loveland CO. Oh, and research factory incentives/rebates. When I bought a new M8 last month there was besides a substantial discount I qualified for a $2000 loyalty rebate (at the time I owned a 2023 M2) and a $9000 credit rebate. For the $9000 credit rebate I financed $20K. But I don't have to let the loan run 48 months. I can pay it off early after the 3rd payment. The interest I pay over 3 payments is ~$190. I'll spend $190 to save $9000. |

So where are you all searching that you can see new BMWs by model nationwide?
The payment checks out with base Money Factor and stated residual On thing about this 24 is that it has the Cognac interior, which is not since Im not a huge fan of all black interiors. So I guess this isn't as good of a deal as I thought it was...

$40k to rent it for 3 years seems a bit much, but I've never been into leases. What's it cost you if you buy it & decide to sell in 3 years?

Same terms, 72 mo finance raises the payment to $1053. In 3 years would owe $33747. 4 years is $22834. Current trade in on KBB looks to be around $40k on a 21 M2 Comp, this frankly seems high to me.
It appears in 3 years I could trade, or sell the car for at least what is owed, probably more assuming the market is similar. 36 * 1053 = $37908 + 4900= $42,808 (total invested). At 4 years there be $50544 + 4900 = $55444 (total) There would probably be between $9-15k equity at this point. So $55444 - 12500 = $42944 so $3k more to drive for 1 extra year.

I would prefer to use the BMW site/search inventory as not all dealers list cars on sites like Autotrader but the BMW search isn't nationwide. I can only get the range out to 100 miles from the ZIP code I supply. You can try Cars.com maybe even NADA.com or KBB.com. I tried KBB.COM and managed to search for new (2025) 2 Series cars including the M2. But with the 2 Series selected 230, 240, and M2 vehicles were listed. Was not able to limit the search to M2s. Still one can search nationwide. The right car for you is where you find it so use every cars for sale site search... |

To give you an idea of how bleak January is the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) convention is held in January. The next one is January 23-26, 2025, in New Orleans. It is this time of year car dealer upper management feel they can be away for a few days. |

I don't think the carbon buckets would be comfortable for a daily driver?

If you are leasing put down the least amount possible. I would only make the 1st payment for drive off.

At that price listed I suspect they got that one in trade for about 55K, if you like it beat them up. I have never leased a BMW but my experience buying several is if you go back and buy another one in 3 years, they have always made the numbers work out for me as if I did lease the car - meaning on the new deal I basically just kept the payment I was making the same without a big deposit ($1000 to secure the order)...I do believe they appreciate loyalty. But owning it I still had the freedom to do whatever I wanted to the car in mods, and financially as well...leasing not so much, and if you decide you love it and have to keep it, you'd be paying them a bit more than it was worth at buyout time, usually.

if its the spec you want, its not a bad deal, but as others have said 5-6% off can be had on 2025s right now.
slightly off topic but something that people often fail to take into consideration with buy vs lease is the ease of refinancing your purchase in a falling rate environment... much easier to take advantage of new lower rates when you finance. i would never put 5k down on a lease though, personally... |

for this reason alone i think in the current environment financing makes a lot of sense. i think technically you can do something similar with buying out your lease ahead of the term but you are still on the hook for the sum of the payments plus the residual which rarely, if ever, works out to less money than financing from day 1...
