Did your M240 have run flats?

Not trying to play the M240 = M2 game, more like I just dont see how they could be all that different outside of power.

My M240 came with the wider PS4Ss.

Forget drivetrain, we can agree there. Suspension is definitely different (you will find more similarities in the G80/82 there). Seats are different (and I am not talking about the buckets)...M2 are better. Obviously the M2 has the M settings. What is same...its a two series (when stripping off the fenders and bumper), AC, basic interior (other than the M trim) and infontainment system.

Thanks for the replies, thread definitely got off track a little lol.
I'm in the greater Philly area, so there are some more dealers I could try or a looks for a used one at an off brand dealer.

I would get a 718 S or GTS 2.5, these would be used. I've have 987 now and really enjoy it. I would stick with Porsche but have a hard time dealing with the price tag of newer ones.

A nice optioned 718 is about $70k for that money I feel I should look at new cars. I have owned BMWs in the past, most recently an F30, which left me mostly disappointed. That why I really want to test drive the M2 before putting down the money.

I asked to test drive an M2, expecting an auto but they let me drive a 6MT with the carbon buckets. Granted they have had the car for a while now, it’s a 2024, but I was still happy. Keep asking.

I got my M2 test drive in with a dealer that had a used one. It was 6MT, they didn’t have an auto for comparison, but they did have a RWD M3 Comp with the Zf8 which gave me an idea of how the automatic felt.

Display cars are being to dealers. My local dealer has one coming in a few weeks from now.

They should allow test drives in those.

I drove a couple of RWD M4s with auto and a M3 with MT.

My local dealer sits right next to the highway. So you get on the highway and go east a few miles then loop back and go west to the interchange and then go north then take some twisties back. It's about a 30 minute loop where you get some high speed ramps, highway, street driving and a little traffic.

You can push and not lose your license.

That’s frustrating! Some dealers are strict about M car test drives. You might try offering to put down a deposit or mention you're serious about buying. If you’re set on the M2, it could also help to build rapport with the salesperson or try contacting multiple dealerships.

From my experience. BMW is pretty lame when it comes to allowing a test drive of an M car. Fortunately for me, my dad had purchased an M5 a few years back. When they looked up my last name in the system and saw this, they gave me the keys and let me take it around the block. I still think it’s ridiculous that they and some other manufacturers give people a hard time about test driving cars. I’d be ok signing a waver or even putting down a deposit but they usually won’t even offer that option. I couldn’t imagine buying a car without taking it for a ride first. Even Subaru turned me away a few years back when I wanted to try out a WRX…

Dealers are getting their display cars about now.

My dealer expects theirs in the next couple of weeks. Those dealer cars that will be sitting there are for test drives.
