Disable "notify BMW for service"

Is there a way to disable the notify dealer when service is needed feature? My wife's X3MC is past the complimentary maintenance program. I just changed the oil & filter, but am receiving emails and phone messages every day from
BMW & my local dealers to schedule a service visit.

Looked around in the My BMW app and didn't see anything that would allow me to disable this feature.

You should research what's really done at the various complimentary maintenance services. I think you'll find it is more than just an oil/filter service.

If one is taking care of fluid changes and other maintenance (brakes, plugs, suspension, etc.), only real reason to adhere to the dealership's scheduled service dates are if one wants car to have CPO status for trade in. Otherwise, a good mechanic/shop will far exceed anything a dealership will offer (please don't give any 10 paragraph stories about one of your Porsche's).

Not sure, but I think dealership emails and phone calls would have to be dealt with at the dealership, not through the app. I was getting emails for both service and trade-in offers for my 2021 M2C after I had sold it. Called the dealership's "genius" and he was able to stop the automated emails. I never got any phone calls though.

Yeah, those damn notifications are BMW's version of George Orwell and Big Brother watching over. I have received texts and calls regarding scheduled maintenance on my G42 M240. I have received any with my G87 M2 however I do oil changes far more frequently than the "plan" requires (I also didn't opt for any additional services so I am sure that limits the notifications).

I did receive emails stating that BMW noticed issues and call to schedule appointment when I had the following done: changed brake pads, changes suspension to coilovers and replaced the radiator.

I have the paperwork for each complimentary service. My last one said oil and filter change, vehicle check. The same as any other vehicle I've ever had serviced at a dealership, nothing special. According to the condition based service schedule, the vehicle was due for an oil change. I changed the oil. What other magical service would my BMW dealer have performed?

Will chat with my service advisor next time I bring my M2 in for the complimentary maintenance. The voicemails I received this week appeared to come from BMW as they said "call us so we can schedule a service appt with your preferred dealer". I've received emails from both BMW and two different dealers stating "your vehicle notified us a service is due".

I'll see if I still get the calls/emails now after resetting the service interval in iDrive.

From a BMW web site:

All model year 2017 BMW vehicles and newer sold or leased by an authorized BMW center come with BMW Ultimate Care standard for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles whichever comes first. Only the following maintenance items are included with BMW Ultimate Care when they are performed as outlined in the vehicle's Maintenance booklet:

Engine Oil
Engine Filter
Brake Fluid

Cabin Micro Filter(s)
Engine Air Filter(s)
Spark Plugs

Remote Control/Key Battery
Vehicle Check
Fuel Filter (Diesel engines only)

Link:

https://www.bmwusa.com/explore/bmw-v...onditions.html

Not all of the above items done every service. The 1st service is pretty basic. But subsequent services are more involved.

Yes, I know all this. This service required an oil & filter change only. Brake fluid & air filters were replaced at the last service. Dealer did not replace spark plugs at 30k as recommended, so I'll replace them myself. All of those maintenance items are very easy to DIY

A lot of us enjoy doing our own service and if someone wants to take it to the dealer for service then good for them. Regardless, there should be a way to stop BMW notifications/emails/texts for service.

As long as you know what's due besides just the oil/filter and service those items then no problem.

As for disabling the BMW notification service is due not sure why you want this. Rather I would think you would want a way to dismiss these notifications after you had done the called for servicing/maintenance.

I would hazard a guess that the level of coding necessary to disable the notifications would be far above what level of coding is available to a BMW DIYer coding tool one could buy off the shelf. I'm thinking access to a genuine BMW diagnostics computer would be required.

JABCAT Going back to your original post, are you asking how to disable the iDrive system from sending you notifications when you start the car?

Have you used BimmerLink or other method to indicate service has been completed? That should eliminate the car CBS system notifications. I haven't done this yet with the M2 but was a typical step on other BMW's.

I don't know of another method although I do understand previous generations of iDrive had a way to enter the additional menu where you could reset this without an OBD2 tool.

I don't want to disable the notifications on iDrive that a particular service is due. Even though I keep very detailed maintenance records, have a notification pop up in the vehicle is a nice feature. What I wanted to disable is the vehicle sending notifications that service is due to BMW & my local dealer. Typically what happens is when a serice is due in 1k mi or less I get bombarded with calls, texts, and emails from both BMW & my local dealers stating "your vehicle has alerted us that service is due, please call ASAP to set up your service appointment.

Re: resetting the service interval in iDrive after a service has been completed, you can do it via the BC button on the stalk & don't need any software or OBD2 tool. It's been a week since I changed the oil & reset the CBS system & no emails or phone calls, so maybe that is the remedy.

Well still getting emails from the dealership stating "your vehicle notified us it is overdue for service" even though the service interval in the vehicle was reset.

I still get these emails for my G42 that I traded in during the summer of 2023. I'm still getting oil change notifications for my G87 that was totaled and July and was sold at auction this morning.

Someone please help. Haha.

I was unpleasantly surprised to get a call from my dealer tonight to set up my running in sevice. I thanked her and advised that I hadn’t even hit 200 miles yet and would call to schedule something when I was closer to 1200, and preferred not to be contacted about it again.

I noticed in the last email the dealer says the following services are overdue (this is for my wife's '22 X3MC):
Oil change
Transfer case service
Rear differential fluid change.

I checked the BMW maintenance schedule for those services and transfer case & rear differential aren't due until 50k mi. Her vehicle has 37k mi currently. I guess just the typical "these services are due" claim now that the vehicle is out of the complimentary maintenance plan.
