I was wondering the same thing. I’m at the tail end of the boomers and my mindset is nothing like that.

The other day, I moved my car from the driveway to the garage and still put my seatbelt on. Force of habit. 👍

In our family we've got 3 vehicles including my X5 M60i. Because of the constant beeping in the BMW I've now gotten into the habit of always putting my seatbelt on to avoid the beeping. But in my dad's Infiniti QX60 it doesnt make any noise at all if your seatbelt isnt on so therefore I rarely put it on when im driving that vehicle. My mom's Grand Caravan never stops beeping if you dont put your seatbelt on, no matter how long you've been sitting in it. Its annoying but Ive began to tune it out esp when listening to music. But I noticed with the X5 it'll continue beeping for some time but then stop. I was under the impression that it never stopped beeping until the car comes to a complete stop or is in Park.

Here’s an analogy from the motorcycle world.
So, you want to move your motorcycle about twenty feet, from one side of a parking lot to the other. You choose to do so by riding it. Do you bother to put your helmet on? I knew someone who didn’t. He was a very experienced and skilled rider. It should have been a trivial matter. The motorcycle malfunctioned. It tipped over at about 5 MPH. His head hit the asphalt. He died due to traumatic brain injury. Had he been wearing his full-face helmet, he probably would have been uninjured. Had he been wearing even a DOT-legal half helmet, he probably would have suffered just bruising or cuts, maybe a broken nose. Just as a full-face helmet is a tool to help protect the life and health of the rider, so too is the seat belt a tool to help protect the life and health of the driver.

Probably not. But he did in his street and track riding.

Saw someone the other day blasting his horn at a fuel station because the car in front was taking some time I guess...then as he eventually pulled away, he put his seatbelt on. Made me laugh inside. Why so impatient to go if you're not even ready to go??

I always wear a seatbelt,
my friend broke his arm a couple of days ago when he got into an accident while seating on a passenger side without a seat belt! |
