Anybody been having problems with opeing the car in sub zero conditions? The lock doesnt seem to want to operate and doesnt latch on when closing and the car thinks its open and wont go into gear, it was only -4, seems a bit odd it would have problems, had to warm the latch with my fingers lol

I haven't had any issues. There was one guy who said his drive mode buttons weren't working. I imagine if you remote start any problem would be taken care of as the car warms up. I doubt there is some big issue with cold weather though and probably one offs.

15 deg F (-9c) here this morning and am cleaning up from a snow storm. Cleaned off my 230 and no issue opening the doors.

Sounds like you have some water in your latching mechanism. If you have anything like WD40, I would hit it with that first to try and displace the water. You could then follow up with some silicone or light grease later to lubricate the mechanism. Hopefully that does the trick.

Been in colder temps and not had these issues. I did have the hood secondary latch fail to open few weeks ago, worked fine when the dealer looked at it. Hasn't come back yet.

Generally my M240i has been fine in all temps, including -40C. Couple notes:

Need to be aware of keeping the seal at the bottom of the side window clear of snow and ice when opening the door so the window can go down the inch or so. On that note, it's a bad idea to wash your car at -20C, drive it a few blocks, then try to open the doors...I thought I was going to be stuck in the car, but it broke free.

Another thing is the remote starter for those who have it, if your battery charge is "low," it will refuse to remote start. When I say low, you won't have any idea the battery is low on charge because it starts fine otherwise, but it is too low in the computer's opinion. A trickle charger once or twice a week at severely low temps will avoid this, unless your drives are long enough to fully charge the battery. My issue was a remote start at lunch hour combined with 1/2 hour drives and blasting the heated seats, it allowed the battery to get low enough to not remote start.

I'm in the process of putting my interior back together piece by piece (working on getting rid of noises) and today I put the first piece back in and the car is covered in ice today, -22C. Hard to identify noises when ice is crackling all over the place, lol.

Not seen that one, only issue I’ve had is the window and the door handle freezing so you have to break into your own car

Fitment is maybe a 7/10 - the seam on the diagonal doesnt sit tight because I think I would need to pull the bumper to get the clips to engage.

Quality probably 6/10 (one of the parking sensor lugs popped off, glued it back on just fine but it shouldnt do that)

overall, its a win for now but because I bought from Aliexpress I cant get it replaced. I only paid $250 after sales.

In my opinion, I would (and may) buy from a supplier like RW carbon so that you can ensure fitment and have USA support, even if they are the "same" part marked up I bet the QC on the pricier part is better.
Received and installed the RW Carbon front grilles today. Night and day difference. 10/10 quality, fit, appearance.

I will post a full comparison next time I am at my PC.

If you were ever wondering if you get the same parts from aliexpress as RW carbon, you absolutely do not. I applied for a refund on the aliexpress app.

Disengaged the battery the other day to install paddle shifters.

Now I keep getting a "calibrate seats" message on the iD8 display. I tried taking my seat all the way to the front and then to the back, doesn't work. Any ideas?

I don’t think that’s the reason. Remote start is legal.

I believe it’s to do with (idiots) leaving engines running unattended on the highway, which is illegal.

Environmental regulations: In many parts of Europe, particularly in urban areas, there are strict regulations related to air quality and emissions. Remote start systems often cause vehicles to idle when started remotely, and if the engine runs for an extended period without the vehicle moving, it can lead to unnecessary fuel consumption and higher emissions. This conflicts with the EU's environmental goals, which include reducing CO2 emissions and improving air quality.

Safety concerns: Remote start systems can sometimes lead to safety risks. For example, if a car is started remotely, it could accidentally move (if not in "park" or properly secured) or leave a child or pet inside the vehicle while it warms up. Additionally, there is a risk of the car being stolen if the system is not adequately secured.

Noise pollution: In some areas, especially in urban environments, there are rules aimed at reducing noise pollution. Remote starts can cause vehicles to run unnecessarily, contributing to noise in residential areas, particularly early in the morning or late at night.

Because of these reasons, the EU places restrictions or requires modifications to remote start systems to ensure that they are used in a manner that adheres to local environmental and safety standards. This contrasts with the United States, where remote start systems are more commonly available, as the regulatory environment is generally more permissive.

Oh nice. That's exactly what I have my eye on. As much as I love my m240i xDrive, whenever I see an M3, or even an m4, I just really start to think about upgrading.
