Access to Service Information Bulletin

Does anybody have access to Service Information Bulletins of BMW?

I have a rattling noise coming from the passengers area and my dealer didn‘t find anything even after the 3rd visit. Please see video attached.

I have the feeling that my dealer doesn't take the time to look for existing solutions in the system and keeps turning me away.

I‘m quite sure it is linked to the seat or door panel and it would be great if anybody could have a look at the system if available.

Thanks in advance, BG Mike

Have your door panels been removed for any reason? The dealer replaced the ambient light strips in the doors of my wife's X3MC and now it sounds like every panel in the vehicle rattles. It's driving me crazy, so I understand your frustration.

Yes, the door panel was removed because of a rattling door pin. BUT the rattle in the video was present prior to the rattle of the door pin. Seems like the whole car is a rattling box 🫠 it is really frustrating.

What puzzles me is that the noise only tends to occur when there is no passenger in the car. Perhaps a coincidence or my imagination. That's why I originally suspected the seat.

What I find really bad is that the dealer refuses to carry out any further troubleshooting despite the fact that the BMW warranty is still valid, simply because he was unable to find a cause during the last three visits to the workshop.

I'm going to remove the door panels myself and try to identify what is causing the rattles. I like my dealer for regular maintenance but not really impressed with their warranty work thus far (multiple trips for the same thing or the vehicle coming back with other issues that weren't there prior).

You‘re right. They don‘t put much effort in finding the sources of noises. I would appreciate if you find a source and let me know afterwards.

I‘ll try the same.

Does your noise sound like mine in the video? The same rattling?

During my last stop at the dealer I had a rental car (BMW Series 2 Gran Coupe) and experienced the same noise when I was leaving the dealer. The car was parked outside in cold conditions (3 degrees celsius) when I picked it up and after about 30minutes the rattle disappeared. Very strange.

Although the rattling in the rental car was even louder than in mine, I couldn't find the cause.

Same. Had the iDrive dial replaced (supposedly) to fix a rattle. Same rattle is back, but not as often. I'll probably pop the dial out myself to verify that that's the problem.

The rattle in the driver's door sounds similar to the video you posted. I also have a rattle right behind my head in the b-pillar & in the rear passenger door driver's side. Then there's a very loud rattle/squeaking coming from either the dash/air vent on the passenger side or where the door panel meets the side of the dash when closed. These all popped up after they replaced the ambient light strips in all 4 doors. The vehicle has just under 37k mi currently.

The only rattle I have noticed in my M2 (18k mi) is at the rear of the cup holder (gear selector side). I think I've narrowed it down to the front of the center console trim. If I press on the front of the center console trim toward the gear selector, the rattle goes away.
