Just installed this yesterday - install went smooth aside from the passenger side rubber grommet popping out and dropping into the abyss of my fender liner so I had to go digging for it. Haven't had a chance to drive the car though.

One question I have is if it is able to control the valves when the engine isn't on? I tried doing it with just accessory power on and it doesn't do anything - I can only open/close when the engine is running.

Yes, engine must be running for the valve to move. Our controller should take your selection when in accessory mode and apply it once engine is on.

I had Borla on both my E30 M3 and E36 M3 and they sounded badass.

I haven't seen Borla on BMW in years though.

They specialize in the 8-cylinder

their 4 & 6 Cylinder exhausts were never as good in my opinion

Yes it was. Even ones with a Megan axle back and test pipes sounded awesome. I spent $400 for test pipes and got a Megan Race Axle backs and the sound was glorious.

The thing is to be honest these cars don't sound so good when they are loud. There is a balance. I am trying to find it right now. The MAD controller is a step in the right direction. I am probably going to get the Dinan midpipe as it keeps the OEM secondary cats which I feel will help with rasp and unwanted acoustics.

The AA EL was the closest to the tone on the g87(although nowhere near the volume) of my last Mustang running ARH LTH into Corsa double x with AWE Touring in the rear.

Sorry, didn't mean to pigeon hole you as a scofflaw. Roll on (of course only after come to something approaching a complete stop, lol).

I have a Dinan x-pipe and MAD controller on order.
I also don't want to have something too loud, just a bit more volume.
If that's not enough I'll add a MAD or Dinan rear section.
Taking it step by step.

That is the EXACT setup I had on my E92 M3's. Gosh I miss that sound!

I thought I was the only one with that exhaust. It was somewhat of a "cheap" exhaust at the time. Sounded bad ass though!

The Megan Exhaust was actually a rebranded Agency Power exhaust. I bought it used for $400 and the testpipes for $400.

Same set up here! ASD disabled and I still wish it was louder. Will eventually add catted downpipes to fix that.
