Struggling selecting trim

Going to put deposit on 2025 M240i tomorrow. Thunder knight Metallic with Cognac sensatec. One of the reason I waited for 2025 was I heard carbon fiber would be an option (also figured may as well weight for idrive 8.5). But, once the configurator came out, $800 for cf!?! I’m leaning towards that is crazy for a couple pieces of trim. Not a fan of the polished aluminum base trim. So I guess I’m down to $150 for aluminum rhombicide anthracite or the ash blu gray open pore fine wood trim for $350.

I was leaning towards the wood. It’s mostly gray. If any blue it’s very subtle. I think the aluminum is a little more sporty and I do think of the car as more sport than luxury so could also talk myself that way. Also $200 cheaper.

Any thoughts/opinions?

Wood? It’s not a Jaguar.

If you are convinced that’s what you want, make sure you see it first. They had a wood option on the F30s at one point and the colour was a mile of the configurator images.

That said, 800 bucks on a 50k car to get exactly what you want and what you will be looking at every day is a regret I wouldn’t want.

When you get it, let us know if it comes with leather knee pads for 2025.

I know you already made your choice (and I think it was the right one), but the wood trim in the '23/24 4-series looks cheap and fake. Even my wife who knows little to nothing about cars commented on the fake wood in our 4 series rental and said it looks cheap and terrible. I'm not sure it's any better in the '25 update.

Just finished configuring an order for a 230i...Skyscraper Grey paint.

To us, the Rhombicle trim looked like imitation CF...and we have the CF in our x3 M40i.

Looked at the standard M Brushed Aluminum trim and it's a muted aluminum with very fine brushed finish. Seeing it in person made it easy to choose that base trim. Think it looks good and will brighten up the interior a bit with the Tacora Red Sensatec...especially as we're deleting the sunroof to pocket the $800 savings and give us a bit more head/helmet room

$800 is absolutely insane for a trim, agreed.

You can get it for much, much cheaper on Aliexpress.

Honestly the black/gray wood-ish look seems decent too.

Isn't that the silver plastic surrounding the drive mode buttons, Idrive controls, in the center? The previous owner of my car left a couple notches in mine. Kinda annoying to look at. I have a 2023

If you're balking at $800 for quality cf trim and advocating to buy aliexpress trash instead, maybe just buy a cheaper car.

$800 is a good price for these 100% recommend it if you want them and can spec new. Proper perfect replacement carbon anit cheap. Your looking at $350 -$400 for the stick on ali ones which are nowhere near as good as genuine. Costs around $1500 for genuine replacements after the fact from main dealer.

Being smart with money is how many CAN afford a $55K sporty car like this...

It's $300 extra for most other BMW models that have literally the same dash (like the M340i). Why is the M240i's $500 more? It's a ripoff, that's why. So Aliexpress is the move in my book. Each to their own.

I too prefer the OEM parts whenever possible.

Yes. There are two other pieces. One that covers the cup holders and a small piece above that. The large piece you marked is a bit tricky to unclip the front part. There are several YouTube video on how to remove the pieces. PM me.
