If we are talking about fun to drive, the G87 blows the doors off of the 335i. I mean, it's not even close and I don't know what test you could come up with where the 335i would be more fun.

If the weather is nice, and I don't have more than 1 passenger, the G87 is what I choose every time.

Is the e90 more practical? Yes. Do I miss the hydraulic steering when in the G87? Also yes. But in terms of fun, the G87 is sublime.
Exactly. I have one of the last E90 2011 335i M-Sport sedans ever built. It's a complete FBO car with every off the shelf E90 M3 part ever made. You name it... Bilstein, H+R, Power Flex, F** OEM Brembo conversions F&R, XHP tune, PS4S, etc. Yada, yada, yada & more IOW. And guess what?? As much as I have enjoyed this car over the past decade +, the F87 & G87 M2's are both in a completely different league in all regards. My EOP 2011 335i Sport is a garaged, well taken care of example with only 65K on the clock. I adore it, but that old E90 platform (as good as it "was") simply can't compete with the new. The new GXX platform will blow that old car out of the water any day of the week, without much effort. You have to let go of that "the last hydraulic steering rack feel" mentality & simply accept, the S58 + new chassis is a full tilt blast to drive. I can't wait to get a G87 M2 once I find the right owner for stout E90 2011 335i fully modified M-Sport. Sometimes, you have to fully let go of the past to fully move forward. I've been in your shoes before & you simply have to go drive one OP. See if you can find one on TURO & then come back to us.
