▀▄ eas | Evolution Racewerks - Resonated Competition Series Dual Midpipe
Here's a sneak peek of the new Evolution Racewerks Resonated Competition Series Midpipes, just installed late last week to round out the ER midpipe collection for G87 M2.
ER's Competition Series Mid Pipes are constructed out of 100% 304 grade stainless steel and utilize mandrel bent piping. They are 100% TIG welded by our in house fabricators and built in the USA. Our exhaust flanges are billet stainless steel that is computer CNC precision cut. The factory bracket hanger is retained. The bracket hanger is laser cut and TIG welded using stainless steel rods. High quality exhaust clamps are used to joint the mid pipes to the rear exhaust muffler section. Designed to fit perfectly with either the factory exhaust system or your aftermarket exhaust system designed for compatibility to the factory mid pipes. ![]() Features

Ok, so I have your Gen1 midpipes and absolutely LOVE the sound outside of the car, but with my aftermarket MAD axle-back, it can be a bit much inside the cabin. I get a bit of droning on the highway.
Is there any way you can describe the differences between the Gen1 non-resonated and Gen2 resonated midpipes? Is it a significant sound reduction? Does it take away that nice raw sound outside the car? Man I wish I could hear the difference in person!

Somewhere down the line - a lot of companies have gone the direction of super loud catless/unresonated exhaust systems. they're cheap, loud and get attention. Scratches the itch for a lot of people. With a non-resonated midpipe and a Mad muffler, you're removed the resonators and coupled with a smaller (likely unpacked/chambered) muffler - I'm not surprised it's loud/drones. Some have even gone for the trifecta and added catless downpipes to the configuration - and it's LOUD. Different people might have different opinions of what is described as "Raw", so you'll just need to listen to different configurations in person. The M2 is pretty quiet with the windows rolled up, so while it might be quiet inside, note that it can be pretty loud at WOT outside with an aftermarket exhaust. IMHO, going with either an axleback or midpipe would give you a much cleaner tone. Akrapovic is a very well-respected example of this, as they have use a packed muffler, resonated midpipe and high-flow catted downpipes for the A/B/C of their system - it's how the system was intended to sound, largely coupled with exotic metals (ie: titanium). BMW did a very good job with the G87 out of the box, and there's a lot of "perceived need" that just because an aftermarket part exists - the OEM part must be inferior somehow. Most times a just a midpipe is all the M2 needs to give it a little attitude. If you want more down the road - you can always add on later.

Very significant, the video clip in Post 3 will show the resonated midpipe on an otherwise stock exhaust system.
