Out of curiosity, anyone running aftermarket catted downpipes (or catless) but stock midpipe and muffler? Wonder if you hear the turbo spool more with this set up compared to going with an aftermarket midpipe but stock downpipes and muffler.
With the aftermarket midpipe, the active sound design seems to be extra amplified when the car is in sport mode and the M sound button is toggled on. Almost feels like the speakers will blow out when you are full throttle and the rasp kicks in. It's too loud in the cabin. Not sure if this helps but I went into the sound settings to turn off Logic 7 surround sound, lower the bass, fade the sound to the rear a bit, turn the speed volume down and set the equalizer back to factory settings. The rational move is to code out ASD with bimmercode but a bit concerned about BMW giving me a hard time about warranty if anything with the ECU or electronics falter. |

That’s why I recommend upgrading the midpipe or axleback first; it improves the sound quality without any downsides.
