M Driving School

Hi All!

Last month I purchased a new M2 with the Carbon Package. Will BMW be reaching out about the M Drivers Package to get that scheduled?

Has anyone done it - thoughts? I missed the opportunity when I purchased my Hellcat and C8 so I'd like to try and take advantage of it.

Thanks!

It's a great program! I've been to two 1 Day M Schools and the 2 Day M School. It basically got me hooked into this hobby of HPDEs, Time Attacks, and Autocrosses. I had never thought I had what it takes to be able to comfortably drive on the track prior, and this course changed that.

My advice is that if you ever plan on doing the 2 Day M School, is to skip the 1 Day and use your voucher to upgrade to the 2 Day. The first day of the 2-Day M School is basically very similar to the 1-Day M School, save yourself the $.

As far as waiting for the voucher, it usually comes in the mail. You can, however, try calling 1-888-345-4269 and giving them your VIN so they can look up your voucher.

I was fortunate to be able to attend in the 1-day M-Driving School 2016 at the Spartanburg SC location as an incentive trip. Also was able to tour the Spartanburg build plant during that trip!

At that time I was really blessed to have Johan Schwartz, Matt Mullins and Rafael Torres as instructors.(Shortly after Johan and Matt and their team performed the world's longest drift.) Everything of the School was top class. From Classroom to Steering wheel it was all awesome.

It definitely was a wonderful experience and allowed me to learn more useful skills while driving, both on street and track. If you have the opportunity to attend, I recommend that you take it up.

Hey Mike,

I agree with the posters above, especially jmg’s recommendation of paying extra on top of your voucher to attend the 2 day M school.

It not only taught me one of the most important lesson in track driving - proper vision - but I learned car control skills which can be used out on public roads. You also get to really experience what these cars are capable of and if anything, you’ll want to go out on the track there afterwards.

Here is a M school review I put together a few years back in case you want to know more;
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1854429

All in all, do it! You’ll love it

Had my M2 a year already and haven’t gotten a chance to go and use my voucher but probably this spring in SC. Looking forward to it!

I'm kind of on the fence about whether to just take the one-day, or to upgrade to a 2 day... I'm not too sure I'll ever be doing anything with the car on a track, but more training is never a bad thing.

It's pricey, but even if you never go to the track again, at least you've done 2 full days with instructors. And if you do decide to hit the track, you'll be better prepared for it.

No doubt, though, the 1 Day is still fantastic!

I believe you have 1 year to schedule it (you can schedule it to take place after the year, but you have to use the voucher within a specified amount of time). Or was it 2??

Might want to at least check before it expires!

I attended the driving course in November 2024, the day was simply fantastic, exceptional instructors and a much better driving experience than previous courses with Porsche, Audi and VW.

There should be a disclaimer with this course as it can result in the purchase of a more powerful M car. Before the drive day I was smitten with my M2, after the course I had to have an M3, hence, `caveat emptor'.

I went a few weeks ago and it was really fun. I wrote a recap on reddit.

One of those days actually had me considering an F87 M2 while I owned my G82 M4! It’s just such a fun car to toss around. I just couldn’t take that much of a step down in power. The G87 came along and power wasn’t such an issue anymore so here I am!

Interesting. I never got a voucher in the mail. I always set mine up with my sales associate then called them to book my day.

I did not know you could upgrade to a two day either. Thats awesome! I would have done that if I knew that.

If only the put you up in one of those houses around the track for a night though! That would be super cool!

They don't advertise the ability to use the voucher this way, but they will do it no problem!

Those houses are wild. I took a tour of the facilities and snapped some pics:

Do the two day. If you don't, after one day you will be wishing for more.

Correct, those are two totally different things. Neither come with the Carbon Package though.

what is the difference between all of these?
"New Owner’s Track Drive" - comes with new car
"M Driver's package" "class" - comes with carbon pack
"1 day M school" -?
"2 day M school"
