The Perfect Exhaust for the BMW M2 (S58)

Normally I'd post this on the exhaust subforum, but this sounds so damn good I had to be post it here. I don't think I've heard a better sounding exhaust for the S58.

I just saw this and agree fully. I would love to hear their version of a single midpipe as well.

Looking into it though it seems like it's the same as the CSZ Exhaust on Alibaba? Either way, hands down the best sounding one.

I'm unfamiliar with the CZS exhaust. What I liked about this setup is they literally filled the exhaust with liquid to measure its capacity and then lengthened the shorter side to be equal to the longer one. Seems to have made all the difference in the world, it sounds incredible and to my ears I hear zero rasp. All this with stock downpipes, primary cats and rear muffler.

Yeah when I heard it I immediately started rethinking the single midpipe.

Here's the one from AliExpress. Looks the same just more shiny haha.

I think I'll see if Berk does a single and see what it sounds like but theirs is what I'll most likely go with.

The exhaust he was showing is still preproduction so yeah, it's not shiny. He explains that other 'equal length' exhausts don't take into account that the down pipes for the two exhaust banks are not equal and therefore have to be compensated for like they did with the Berk exhaust. They also have silencers right after the downpipes to complement the tone of the exhaust. Watch the video at 2m37s, he provides pretty good detail of the differences between other 'equal length' exhausts and theirs.

They seem to be the only ones not just slapping the name equal length on something when it's not.

Would you guess that if they made a single mid that it would essentially sound the same as all the others since there's not really much you can change on those?

I'll reach out to them to get an idea on pricing and shipping. I'm probably 2 weeks out from receiving my car and would love to get an exhaust for it sooner rather than later.

You can ask if they have plans for a single but IIRC all the single mid pipes exhausts I've heard are still raspy to me. If cost is a concern I don't think they'll be able to beat an exhaust on Alibaba for $400. Their exhaust is still preprod and it's made in the Netherlands and would be shipped overseas which won't be cheap. Still worth asking though.

Looks good, I'm interested - I have to believe these outflow any single midpipe option, especially if you decide to go full unlock later

10 minutes in settles the issue of whether the LCI/2025 has more power

Similar alternatives?

I actually reached out to them after I watched their videos, and agreed with what Tag said, might be the best sounding S58 dual pipe set up I’ve ever heard. (I previously was dead set on Miltek Single + X rear set up)
So the person reached out to me with the full price of €1990 without shipping fee to US (also without tarrif costs) with potential of wait time of 4-6 weeks. I also specifically asked them if they are made in specific countries and their reply were “Custom Made in Europe”. No warranty info yet but they are willing to handle all shipping damages if any.
It’s a very nice sounding setup with a pretty deep costs imo, if you include everything.

Thanks for sharing that info. I agree, that's pretty steep for a midpipe setup but it sounds so damn good that it might still be worth it? Maybe other exhaust makers will copy what they did and offer a more affordable option made and sold here. ***fingers crossed***

I think the guy from Berk in the video touched on this pipe briefly stating that it’s not a true EL (since the curve is on the cross pipe side vs the other side on Berk’s)
I did found one video clip of this CSZ midpipe from our forum member and tbh they don’t sound too bad either. Link:

He explains where the difference in length is. They took off the stock downpipes/cats and the entire exhaust up to the back box. They then used liquid to fill both sides with the downpipes/cats and full length of pipes all connected and then measured the difference. The result was the passenger side did not have as much volume (shorter length). So, they adjusted to make them 100% equal. They also added small silencers right after the downpipes and an x-pipe before the back box to improve the tone.

They were very thorough tackling this issue which begs the question. Why didn't anyone else do this already? Aren't they exhaust experts? Seems like this is exhaust 101 stuff.

The bar for product development R&D in aftermarket auto parts is exceptionally low. Not surprised they are the first to actually measure it from the turbos.

That said there is great amount of speed to be gained from trial and error development, and the way they measured the volume and equalized the size of each pipe is not without its flaws from a fluid dynamics perspective. The way the exhaust gas actually flows is not particularly well represented by volume of the pipes.

So, they have the right idea, but there is a more exact way to consider this and the "best" result is the one that sounds the best to the end user.

The one thing I noticed on that video is that the bass is incredibly boosted on the audio mix, likely making the exhaust sound different than the recording .... but maybe more lifelike?

Convince US vendor to produce a knock off of the Berk system - group buy!

Another interesting option

AA (Active Autowerkes) has been around for 40 years & they have a patent on their EL Gen 2 mid-pipe. Once you see theirs, you'll wonder who all the other are trying to replicate. It's got a great tone & really woke up the nice S58 in my X3 M Competition.

My only issue with other midpipes for the S58 like the one from AA is they still have rasp at certain RPMs. Only time I've heard them sound good is when they're paired with catless downpipes and/or aftermarket back box, otherwise they are raspy which makes me cringe. This exhaust by Berk is the only midpipe I've ever heard that when paired with the stock catted downpipes and back box has no rasp. It simply sounds amazing.

It sounds raspy. He says it’s the video but I’ll pass. Also doesn’t sound much different from a non raspy Milltek

Which milltek exhaust are you referring to? I've seen a few vids of G87s with them and they were raspy but maybe they were running a different exhaust than you're talking about.

I have the AA single midpipe, and I don’t find it raspy at all. Even without the axle back it sounds great. Swapped in the DINAN axle back recently, but haven’t done any highway driving to really test sound.

the single midpipe gives you the cleanest non-raspy sound. unless its paired with high flow downpipes or has fitment issues.
