Funny (in a coincidental way): I drove my G82 as a daily for 2 years and replaced it with an X3M this time last year. Before the lease is up, I'll replace the F97 with a G87 (in white, so as not to attract excess attention). Much as I enjoy adaptive cruise and remote engine start, I plan to opt for the manual transmission. Odds are this'll be the last chance to equip a new BMW that way.

The X3M makes a fine daily driver: about as fast for passing maneuvers, same great seats, and a big dose of practicality. It's as close as we Yanks get to an M3 Touring. The one thing I missed from old-school M cars is involvement in spirited driving (abetted by its elevated driving position).

It's nice to see the X3 M getting a little love here. Mine is a garage queen & it's what I take out when the weather is nice. I have a DD for the weekly grind. It's funny to see we all value our cars / vehicles in different ways.

I’m ditching this Pop Pop the second I get my car. I’ll daily the M2 in all but the snowiest weather (DE is pretty mild)

I don’t think I have enough seat time to make an unbiased comparison yet since I’ve only logged 600 low stress miles on the G87.
A couple of things that I feel make the GRC a unique vehicle is the ability to change the rear bias from 60/40, 50/50, & 30/70.This for me creates more unique driving experiences.I especially like it in inclement weather/backroads in WA.
Floor it in a corner and I get a rush of adrenaline that is confidence inspiring.I’m always looking at the next unique, rare & playful automotive and the GRC provides it for me.

Just a side note for those who are worried about the engine longevity I have put 4k on in 3 months with no complaints. What needs to be addressed though is the stock clutch. From my experience aggressive launches will introduce you to some unique odors.

After owning a 2019 Honda Civic Type R for 3 years and 30 thousand miles. I think the Toyota GR Corolla is a more playful car/visceral feel that reminds me of my hooning days. It feels old school in the way it handles .I plan on keeping it mostly stock so I’m not concerned with the” sky is falling” crowd. After going through at least 10 vehicles in the last 10 years this may be the one I keep for the long haul.

For me it was money well spent since Subaru decided to vacate the playing field and leave us without an STI option.
Good luck in your search!

I daily mine. I am lucky enough to work from home so when it snows, I pretty much just stay home. But it does have all season tires on it and sees the salt - but I take good care of it because of that - undercarriage washes and hand washing even in the winter. PPF. Ceramic coating.

It's just too good a car not to experience it as frequently as possible.

I put about 10k miles on it a year.

My daily was a ND Miata so the M2 is a big step up in practicality for me.

Only downside is I tend to spend more money at the grocery store now and a lot more on gas.

I have an M2 and Model 3 combo. Ev is great as a daily. Having said that, I want to trade in the M3 for a Type R as my daily.

In So Cal I can drive RWD hot rods all year round. I split it pretty much 50-50 between my two cars. I have a system where I'll drive one for 2 weeks, wash it and park it, and then switch. Both are 6Ms - a bit tedious in rush hour but I manage and my commutes are pretty easy. One thing I'm not doing is saving these cars for posterity.

FYI, the M2 did great in that big storm that came through last week.

*at least in my areas (I preface because some seem to think an X3M rides smooth as silk), I couldn't daily an X3M. I really don't enjoy driving my wife's X3MC. All-seasons made the ride a little more compliant than summer tires, but it rattles your teeth on anything other than perfectly smooth roads. It's almost as bad as my son's 2003 Wrangler X. Looks great & has ridiculous performance, but a very harsh ride.

13.5 months with my M2 & it has 22k mi already. It's a great daily driver. I replaced the summer performance tires with Conti Extreme Contact DSW 06 all-seasons. Even though I'm in TX, today we have temps in the teens & snow flurries. I'm 250 mi from home so can't drive the X3MC or Wrangler.

Is it harsher than the M2?

Very noticeably yes. On the roads around here I would equate the M2 in sport + to the X3MC in Comfort. I don't ever drive the X3MC in sport or sport+ for the suspension setting. Whereas I never drive my M2 in Comfort. The M2 seats are also softer than the X3MC.
