Hi all!
My brand new 2025 BTO M240 arrived 2 weeks ago. Excited as I was when I ordered the car, I was under the impression (and falsely informed by the sales guy) that all the new cars have cameras pre installed. Long story short, I did not include the self parking package in the build(which includes the Drive Recorder option) and now I kinda wish that I did, because I want the option of a dash cam.
Having said that, is it true that it's prohibitively expensive and also not offered officially by BMW , to add the self parking package so I can get the drive recorder option?
Also what do you guys think about the FitcamX as an alternative dash cam option? It seems to score favorably with most BMW owners.

I understand that adding the hardware you need for the self-parking package, in order to gain Drive Recorder, and then coding it to work, is basically theoretical - and then only at a very high cost - at this point.

I installed FitcamX in my G87 (did you know you’re in that forum?) and I’m happy with it. It’s invisible to the untrained eye. There are surely other options out there that have more bells and whistles that I kinda wish I had, like GPS or an automatic cloud upload option. But those options all require something stuck to your windshield and I made that trade. The video quality seems fine to me.

Having a dash cam was something I wanted because it’s evidence “might” be useful “just in case.” FitcamX was the right blend of performance, features, and OEM look for me.
