Did you upgrade your exhaust on g87?

What did you end up doing for the upgrade, don't feel the exhaust from BMW does the car justice?

Thanks

Single midpipe by IRL with stock muffler. Planning on getting a valve controller but currently have the valves bypassed (open all the time). Sound is perfect now.

I like the OEM exhaust as is but if I were going to spend the money, I think it would be on Akra cat backs.

Stock exhaust is an abomination, one of the first things I changed on the car.

Currently running IRL catback (single mid), too quiet for my taste so will be installing downpipes again in the near future.

What is the difference between single mid pipe and dual midpipe sound wise? I’m wanting to get a deep, throaty, bassy, tone. I do not want any rasp or too high pitch sounding.

Generally speaking, the single will produce more of a deep cleaner sound, whereas the dual will produce more of a high pitch sound with rasp/drone. Which is better will depends upon your sound preference.

I don't have my G87 yet, but I plan on a midpipe with secondary cat delete, that's it. Probably PSI.

Let's start this by DJ Kool - Let Me Clear My Throat !!!

Just picked up Evolution Racewerks - Competition Series Resonated Midpipe.
Oh boy - this thing gives it a louder and deeper note(on mode 2) Nice and quiet on normal driving.
And the welding work is nice and clean.
Great work from the guys at Evolution Racewerks and install : europeanautosource / EAS

These cars don't sound good loud, at certain rpm they sound good but at higher rpm it breaks up when modded.

Dinan X-pipe with MAD VC. I run almost exclusively with valves 100% open (no particular reason).Running in OEM mode is just as, IDK, satisfying. I come from a long line of Mustangs. By comparison, the M2 isn't, in my own opinion, designed to be loud. Refined, sure. But definitely not savage like some of my Mustangs I have owned. Kinda grown out or away from volume--kinda appreciate, now, the quality (for lack of a better term) of an exhaust note.

You and I are in the same boat. I came out of an E92 M3 with test pipes and a Megan(Agency Power) axle back and my S550 Mustang with Borla Switchfire and Ford Performance by Borla Sport axle backs.

I too am enjoying the more quiet side of this car. Not to mention cops are looking here in S. Cali for cars that are modded to State Ref them.

I am probably going to go with the Dinan as well, it keeps the secondary cats in place which helps with the tone of these cars.

Once in a while I miss those Borla Ataks. Guess I'm fortunate that cops don't bother us in CO...at least not in the front range. I've owned two Mustangs in this neck of the woods (stationed here two differnt times) and never got a second glance from the police. Same was true when I was stationed at Nellis AFB. Can't say that was the case when I was stationed in DC, though.

But, yeh, now I thoroughly enjoy the quieter, more refined, perhaps slightly more exotic note of the M2. Which, I suppose, also means my wife and I can safely cruise S. Cali without too much worry.

Sorry for the late reply to those asking but I ended up going with ER single midpipe and Remus Race axleback.

It sounds AMAZING!!!!

Not trying to toot my own horn but have hit a few M2 meetups and have been told by many that my car is the best sounding M2. Not sure if its cause of how I'm ripping through gears on a JB4 MAP2 tune (93+ oct) but it really sounds aggressive.

I've considered doing catless downpipes but with the car as is it is already deep and loud enough.

The stainless steal, res delete, and race Remus setup gives a deep, throaty sound which is exactly what I was looking for.

BTW Remus also does not recommend to do downpipes with the race setup as you can blow your ear drums out. Even with my setup, there is a resonance point where the depth can really hit you while cruising.
