Manual M2 limitation
Hi all first post but I am looking into the MT G87 M2. I know this has been discussed a lot but I couldnt find definitive proof/videos.
1. Are the horsepower mods limited to the clutch? Can the MT G87 M2 go over 500hp and only really need a clutch upgrade? 2. Where are the videos of people doing big builds on a MT? Cant find them on youtube etc. 3. I think i saw somewhere on this forum that even if you tune and put down big hp, the gear ratio keeps you out of boost when you shift, making the car actually run slower than if it were an AT due to that regardless of how fast you shift. True? Note: Yes we all know the AT will always be faster.. |

ZF Friedrichshafen AG (the transmission manufacturer) rates the manual transmission at a maximum of 443ft pounds of torque.
There's a reason the MT version of the G87 is detuned compared to the auto. |

Plenty of tuned manual g80s. Will need to eventually replace the clutch which costs barely more than an Alpha N front lip lol. 😝
Saw this on the G80 forum. Maybe possibility for full transmission swap? https://www.grannasracing.com/shop/b...3566,3568,3552 |

The manual trans is actually extremely stout and will handle whatever the stock turbos can throw at it (power wise). Now the issue comes in if youre on e85 making high torque, and slamming gears on sticky tires, you will eventually run into some issues.
The reality of it is, a lot of manual g80s out there making 700whp without issue on a PTB clutch, stock trans. |

You can tune on the MT but you are going to definetely burn your clutch up pretty fast if your looking to tune for full power on 93 octane which is generally around 600whp and on ethanol forget it.
