spacers and lowering

Can anyone comment on warranty with these cars if they are lowered and spacers fitted, are they still covered or would something like that void the warranty fully or partially in some way.

Basically any parts that you replace for aftermarket would not be covered. So BMW would not replace the springs you changed.

If for example one of your dampers started leaking then that could blamed on the lowering springs and the dampers being used outwith their range.

That being said it doesn’t seem to be a widely discussed topic with owners having warranty claims rejected or I haven’t come across many discussions about it.

I guess most owners accept that it you modify you take responsibility. The chances of something failing are low because the cars are new and well built.

I hope that answers your question and to clarify if you fit springs and you have engine issues these would still be covered. Fitting aftermarket parts does not void a complete cars warranty.

lowering and spacers

thanks very much for that, that makes perfect sense.

Hopefully the supplying dealer will be sympathetic should a problem arise some day.

If a problem arises, do not expect them to help out. That said, why would a problem arise with you when it has not happened with tens of thousands of other lowered cars?

You are more likely to crash and total the car than have an issue with any of the trusted brands and setups.

There is a reason why the MP HAS kit doesn’t lower past 2 cm. Its been WELL documented on here that going lowering past 20mm you run the risk of damaging the dampers, resulting in blown dampers or just poor ride.

BMW amongst others use modifications as a crutch not perform repairs on vehicles. They are required to prove that the mod in question caused the problem, and stating "because I said so", doesn't hold water. When BMW tried to get me to spend $8000 returning my car to stock if fell flat on its face when I asked them to prove the modded parts caused the issue. Needless to say I didn't spend the $8000.
