Same. One of the most fun cars to drive I’ve ever had. Maybe tops.

Bought it for the manual.

There arent many RWD+manual options in this price range other than the Darkhorse. A base 718 manual was also something I considered but M2 was a better all around value.

Same here - I did consider the M3/M4, but I didn't like driving the M3 nearly as much as I did the M2. I never tried the M4, but I don't like the front much and I prefer a more compact option.

I wanted to try manual 718, but could not find one. Older Cayman didn't do it for me.

CT4-V Blackwing

M2 looks better and is better simple

The only thing the Cadillac has that's better is a better manual transmission but I was getting an automatic anyway (after much deliberation).

I don’t currently have an M2, but owned both an FL5, then upgraded to a CT4-V BW. I traded in the BW a few months ago to get a new car for my wife.

Currently I have an ND Miata RF Club and am now considering pairing it with either an M2 CS or CT5-V BW. Love the CS, but the BW offers a lot more space for the kids.

My only issue with the BW is that it’s kind of boring looking, big 4 door sedan. Doesn’t really stand out. Beast of a motor, performance and comes with a manual which is great but looks generic.

Carrera S in chalk. Chose the M2CS in black because it’s a limited run car and I got the opportunity for an allocation. I can get a Carrera S anytime.

Totally agree. I don’t think the 4 suffers the same issue when you add the carbon fiber packs to it, but obviously you have to give up the V8. This was mine:

Basically, it looks like a Cadillac lol. I think with the aero kit it adds a bit, but it’s very Cadillac looking and feels a little “old man car” no matter what.

I just sold my 911 C2S in chalk and I'm considering a new M2. I really enjoyed my time with the 992.1 - I specced it myself, ordered it, did the whole waiting game. It was a very, very nice car. I just didn't enjoy some of the other aspects of ownership - not being able to drive it everywhere around here - these Texas road aren't all great and the parking lots in a lot of places out here are dirt lots that are almost un-navigable.

For all the money I spent, I didn't want it sitting in my garage. I also have a 2019 X3 M40i that we wound up taking most places, so I figured it was time to ditch the 911 when I got an offer I couldn't refuse from the dealership to buy it back.

Now I'm looking for something not quite as expensive and I also want to buy another watch - some mental gymnastics happening there now. I previously had a 2023 M3CX, which I enjoyed, but I don't need back seats outside of my two small pups. Still loved that car, but I think the M2 is the sweet spot.

Nothing wrong with a stealth car, though. I'm old enough to remember lusting after a Taurus SHO as a kid.

I love "buy another watch" as a euphemism for buying a P-car, lol.

I’ve done a track day in a C2, and 2 track days in a G87. Both were outstanding in their own right; however, I hear what you’re saying. The G87 had a “I could do this every day” that the 911 didn’t. And of course I get the M2CS and it doesn’t even have cup holders lol. Everyday practicality isn’t a consideration for my weekend fun car. But whether I went 911 or the CS, it’s gonna live in a garage for at least 4 months out of the year, I’m in New England.

Also, I don’t know what you’re looking at but the answer is “buy the damn watch”. Lol

I'm looking for GMT Master II at MSRP or finding a mint Day-Date 118238 stick dial. Those would pair nicely with my current two watches and still leave me room for an M car.

Chalk is my favorite (or lack there of) color. I would love to get to the point of buying a new Porsche and doing Euro delivery.

My first car, in 1999, was a 1991 SHO. I think that car is to blame for my love of "special" models.

My first performance oriented car was a 1995 Taurus SHO in hunter green. Popping the hood and marveling at the cool Yamaha motor was captivating, probably the most interesting looking motor I’ve owned…..since then it’s been a sea of plastic covers lol.

1995's were really nice looking cars - 92 and after update to the front bumper really did wonders for the SHO.

220hp from a 3.0 N/A motor back in late 80's was nothing to sneeze at - it was on par or better than M30's in BMW 5 series. Obviously, FWD ensured that it would never match the 5 series in the driving feel, but it was such a nice car.

I paid $4000 for mine, it has 80-ish thousands mile on. All I remember is paying $900 for a clutch cable repair, and spending like $300 on two front Good Year Eagle tires

I traded it in for a brand new 2000 Toyota Tundra that stayed in the family for 22 years.

Any specific spec on the GMT? I really want a Sub "Starbucks". Unfortunetly a Rolex isnt in the cards right now and so I'm scratching the itch with the equivalent Seiko and will be looking at getting the Sub in a few months when things line up.

To bring it back on topic, I'm selling my 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 for the M2. Due to the current market I can get over MSRP for it, so making money on something I got to drive for 1 year feels pretty good to me. But also doing it cuz as much as I love the Porsche, I cant bring it everywhere, and the lack of back seats I'm really starting to feel.

Considered the RS3 as its in the same price bracket after options as the M2 I specced and it also comes in a really nice green (can you see a trend?). Decided I wanted something more sporty rather than Sedan and the back seats in the M2 fit my 5'8" tall wife so I know they are decently useable. Considered going the REALLY cheap route and getting an Elantra N. I had a Veloster N that was an absolute hoot to drive and so I wouldnt have minded that. And it would have freed up more money for the Submariner....but the M2 kept calling my name.

Just picked up my new 2025 M2 on Saturday (first ever BMW). Was cross shopping between the Dark Horse, C8, and M240i.

I couldnt stand the cheapness of the interior of the Dark Horse, at least not at the price point. C8 kinda had the same issue; I didn't find the seats to be as comfortable as i would prefer and the interior was too tight for me.

The M240i was damn near perfect for me, but i knew that i would eventually want more power and an I'm not one for really modding cars so i spent a bit more and went with the M2. I was considering used M3's and M4's but I really wanted something something new and couldnt find anything with the budget i set for myself with mileage i was comfortable with.

Can't wait to be out of the 1200 mile break in.
