I dunno, mine asked unprompted if they should avoid updating the DME. At the time I hadn't done the CS flash so I told them to go ahead, but at least my dealer knows what's up and doesn't want to piss off customers.

I'm lucky my SA is cool with anything I do to the car and often comments if there is something new on the car. Mine was in last week to get the driver's seat leather replaced, oil change, and spark plugs. I told him I had the CS software and to please not do any updates. He said no problem he'd make sure the tech didn't touch anything. I also like he says "and I'll make sure there's an oil sample, & they don't wash it" before I leave.

He even threw two new BMW air filters in the trunk even though I have aftermarket intakes/filters.

UPDATE -

I now have confirmation that the new DME Bootloader DOES BLOCK DOWNGRADE.

So barring any unforeseen developments, CS engine flashes will no longer be possible on cars with software level 11/2025.30 or higher.

Out of curiosity is there any benefit or fix introduced in 11/2025.30? Or is it just to lock things up and prevent the CS flash?

Also, does this affect ability for pre-LCI cars to get the LCI engine flash?

can't answer that for sure at this time as the new SWFL will need to be mapped out to see if there any functional changes. but in all likelihood, there is no other benefits here.

yes it should also prevent LCI flash on pre-LCI as that little loophole was also corrected with the previous swfk update to version 247 and that downgrade will also now be blocked.

Are the CS trans/steering/suspension flashes also blocked because of this 11/2025.30 change?

No, only engine tune is affected.

I have been dealing with a similar situation with my dme being unlocked. I just leave a 1000 post it notes that say do not flash dme or update software. I also tell the service advisor who writes it on the work order and have been in for service 5 of 6 times and they haven’t screwed it up yet.

Can or will the trans/suspension/steering flashes get overridden by a BMW OTA update or software update done by a dealer?

RSU only when there´s an update available for the ECU.
At dealer it´s always overwritten as they´re only doing full updates that include every ECU, even when there´s no new version available.

This is a relief as the steering/etc. is primarily what if are about. I wonder why they would prevent the DME upgrade but not the others.

Because the engine tune/power upgrade gives you 95% of the CS for a minute fraction of the cost.

Even on the manual you get 510 vs 530 HP in the CS and they won’t make a CS manual.
Personally I’d still keep my manual M2 and go MCS custom coils. Between the power bump and M4 CSL suspension bits - that’s mostly what you’re paying for.

Inwould suggest anyone still on the July software package turn off remote software updates and at least keep the option open.

Honestly I can’t think of an easier cheaper way to get a 30HP bump, improved steering feel, suspension rebound improvement, and better throttle reaponse. In the manual car.

FYI, my '26 M2 was just delivered two weeks ago, and was showing a software version of 7/2025. We flashed it sucessfully this morning, auto update now disabled. Another happy convert!

Hi, I also just got the new M2 LCI about 10 days ago and am currently breaking it in. I wanted to ask if I still have to wait until the end of the break-in period and have a service at BMW to get the CS Map?

Of course, I've blocked all updates from both iDrive and the app on my phone (I currently have version 07/2025.62).

Thank you very much

No need to wait, you can get it done ASAP. I did many cars right after delivery.

Just make sure you observe the RPM limits
0-600 miles do not exceed 5K RPM
600-1200 miles do not exceed 6K RPM

And go get your CarMitzvah (break-in) service at 1200 or as close as you can - sooner is better than later.

okok, I'll get the OBD Ethernet cable and we'll update!
In the CS map, I need to disable OPF because I want to install a single Milltek 4" mid pipe.

@digitalldlnkwnt
Yes, of course, I'm doing it very well according to BMW's instructions.
Thanks!

Regarding the OBD/Ethernet cable, the link on your website isn't available in Europe.

Can I get any one, like this one?
