Holy grail of all deals, can it be the real deal?

I've been shopping around a 750iL to compliment my '97 740iL i found several potential candidates when i stumbled on a '02 745i for 4500 bucks! i was so astounded that i didn't even care how many miles were on it. i went to check it out and the thing is perfect in every way with only 68,000 miles on it! i asked the guy if he was actually serious and i guess he's selling off everything he owns because he's going bankrupt! i couldn't believe it. i'm picking the car up monday. is there any chance that this car is going to have some sort of insane malfunction on me? i test drove it and it was a beast, it sounded amazing and handled even better.

i'm so excited to own my second bmw!

uuuuhhhhhh... that sounds very sketchy, at best.

Hmmm, get a background check on the car. I don't know about this.

My friend is trading in his '03 745i while purchasing his GTR, and he's being offered like $18,500 for it. He probably has around 50-70k miles on it, and I think it's in fine condition.

Something has to be wrong with that 7. It sounds waaaay too good to be true.

Well, have it Carfaxed and a complete mechanical check of the entire car and all of it's systems (IE: compression test and leak down test). Then, if all looks good, and the $4,500 is burning a hole in your wallet, get it!!

Assuming the carfax is clean, make sure you get the title the moment you hand him over the cash. If not, run.

Sketchy, but could possibly be true if he's going bankrupt. Sometimes you have to sell things quickly and cheaply to avoid penalties. Take it to a mechanic and have them run a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) for $200. If it turns out well, buy it!

Definitely have the BMW dealership do a PPI, run a Carfax report, and get the title in hand before handing him your cash. If those go fine, then you got an amazing deal.
