BMW, Mercedes-Benz join forces
BMW, Mercedes-Benz join forces
The rumor mill has been abuzz with talks of a BMW-Daimler tie-up, which appear to have finally come to fruition. Fresh off their partnership to develop hybrid drivetrain technology, BMW and Daimler will now join forces in the purchase of some vehicle components. According to Germany’s auto motor und sport, BMW and Daimler – the parent company of Mercedes-Benz – will partner on the purchase of some vehicle components. “The use of economies of scale is successively being implemented,” BMW development chief Klaus Draeger told the magazine. “We do not need to wait for a model change or official announcements.” BMW and Mercedes-Benz have historically been archrivals, but the decision to join forces will likely save both companies million. Although some future BMW and Mercedes products will now share the same parts, the automakers’ parts swapping will be limited to pieces the buyer doesn’t see, keeping both brands’ identities intact. No word on when the partnership will officially begin, but with money saving on the line, we don’t suspect the plan will take too long to implement. http://www.leftlanenews.com/bmw-merc...in-forces.html |

Same story that we heard weeks ago with no news or updates.
All I remember is something about part sharing and improvements for liek the B-Class or something.

lol I think it handles well enough for me not to care about the extra handling finesse of the M3.

I can image a 3 series with an additional 3,000 pounds and to compensate the excess weight an AMG-provided 600hp engine.

That's funny considering the e90 m3 weighs more than the C63. Bmw's aren't getting lighter, that's for sure.
