Try 2010. That's less than two years from now. 10 years from now? That's a million years in tech age. btw, the only thing disabled while in motion right now with MB Comand is DVD video playback. And there's a software work-around to that, since it's enabled in the Euro spec versions.

Are you serious? Honda, Acura, Lexus, Infinity etc have been making much better systems for years now....while BMW gave us a ugly-looking dumb slow iDrive for 50k.

Yes I am serious. I have used most of those systems and not just as a quick trial and they have all sucked compared to my new iDrive. The Infiniti Nav package is the best of that bunch but I still find iDrive more to my liking. It has taken a little work to learn the system but it was worth the effort. Mercedes (if they can actually deliver this system) looks like they are going to push the bar a little higher and as I said in my earlier post I expect us all to eventually benefit.

we shouldn't be bashing BMW's iDrive guys, after all, it was BMW that came up with this system and now other manufacturers are copying them in making the same system only better. Props to both BMW and Merc.
