WTS Michellin PS OEM 18" tires
i am picking up my E92 M3 on Friday and i will install all season tires at the dealership i will bring back the OEM tires (18") with me Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 they have delivery miles (i think they have 3 miles according to the dealers website, anyway i won't drive on them) any takers? and yes i know All season are a compromise but i can't afford to have 2 sets of wheels and i don't have storage space for them either and this will be my daily driver Last edited by kmarei; 12-08-2008 at 08:32 PM.. |

i decided to keep them
found a set of 235/40 and 265/40 Pirelli 240 winter tires on ebay for $400 including shipping 9/32 and 10/32 tread great deal so will keep these for summer although so far i am very unimpressed with the OEM tires they slip in the dry and in the wet might change them to all seasons when winter is over |

why would you put all seasons tires for the summer and not leave high performance tires on the car like M3 ? Doesn't make any sense |

+2...Especially if you think the OEM tires don't have enough grip. There is no all-seaon tire out there that will have more grip than the OEM PS2s in the dry or in the wet above 40 degrees F.

well initially when i got the car the temp was hovering around the 40 mark
so i thought maybe its too cold for them but the last week we had several days in the 50s and one day 60 degrees with rain all 3 days the back would slip way too easily i am comparing with my old crossfire that had conti all seasons and my Audi A5 that dunlop had summer tires neither of those had any slip in the back wheels unless i was intentionally giving tons of power to make it slip with the M3 whenever i am at a light and about to make a left or right turn with the power button turned off the back wheels slip way too easily it's either the tires are not good or i think the back tires are not wide enough for the power the crossfire had 215hp with 285 tires the A5 had 265 hp with 255 tires so 265 on the M3 with 414hp seems to be too narrow anyway i will try them again in summer but i am always worried when i am cornering fast, that the car will just let go i never had that sensation in either of the other 2 cars |

The M3 has much higher cornering limits than both the Crossfire and the A5. The M3 will just not let go with DSC turned on, nor will it let the back end get to out of shape.

ya man...i dunno what the op is talking about. I barely drive on my PS2, because I have my 20" Nitto Invos. But I tracked my PS2s and they were unreal, so sticky it was like driving a go kart on a 100+ degree day!
Driving lessons may be needed!

if it was driver error it would have applied to all the cars i have owned
so that shoots down the driver error bit i've driven both of those cars much faster than my M3 and in corners at least, i am more worried in the M3 than either of them the Crossfire would simply not let go in corners the audi is not really a fair comparison as it was 4wd so i could usually apply power all the way through a corner, unlike a rwd car they may be excellent on a track when they are all heated up and become sticky but i am talking about using them on the road in temps around 50-60 so both people who said they rock on the track may be right but that doesn't make them good on the road |
