Second Home in the Tropics?
Does anyone here have, or know anyone that has a second home in the tropics?
I mean areas such as Costa Rica, Virgin Islands, Belize or Mexico etc... I've been considering this idea and would like to get any info you could provide on this subject. Thanks in advance for your help.

I am currently living in Chaleston, S.C, but I am originally from San Pedro/Ambergris Caye, Belize. It is paradise, land is fairly cheap, it's a place that everyone falls in love with. Check out www.ambergriscaye.com

Checkout Panama beach front porperty. Many South American countries offer incentives for investors to come down and live. The dollar goes a long way and the cost of living is cheap. Some incentives include tax breaks or no taxes. Land is cheap as well.

Thanks for your replies.
What I'm looking to do is find a place to own that I go visit for long periods of time. I really want Oregon to be my home base, but I want to have a second home to get away from it all. And as an investment. Distance is not really an issue. I could do Europe too. I'm interested in the knowledge in how this is done and the pros and cons that come with owning a home in another country. If it's an island, safety is an issue too.
