Sadly BMW only offers the 328 in wagon form in North America.

There's another option though...maybe...what about the Volvo XC60? It will come with a turbocharged inline 6 and AWD.

Well, I already have a 335i. It would be nice to have something a bit different and AWD would be nice to have.

Thats not bad idea. I will have to look into this as well. Is the XC60 out yet?

I think it's already out in Europe, North America is supposed to get it in the spring. So the Q5, GLK and XC60 will debut at more or less the same time.

I must say Volvo did an extremely good job with the XC60 from what I've seen so far. The website is excellent as well and I suggest you all take a look.

GLK looks like a Jeep. I think Audi will look much better in and out.

i would choose the cheapest one because honestly these things seem like an awful waste of money. if you want an SUV just go for the big one. otherwise might as well get an estate.

suv that drives like a car? then get the damn car with extra space.

Audi Q5 beats Mercedes GLK and BMW X3

The specialist magazine "Autozeitung" tested three SUVs in its 25/2008 edition and found the Audi Q5, with its 3.0-litre TDIengine, to be clearly superior to its competitors from Mercedes and BMW. In the words of the magazine, the new luxury SUV from Audi "won this comparison test thanks to its spaciousness, powerful engine and excellent manufacturing." The magazine also lauded the excellent versatility of the Audi Q5.
Audi Q5 3.0 TDI quattro @ Autozeitung test track
Lap time: 1:49.8

Mercedes GLK 320cdi @ Autozeitung test track
Lap time: 1:50.1

BMW X3 3.0d @ Autozeitung test track
Lap time: 1:52.6

To put the Q5's time into perspective you have to look at the other cars which are around it's time.

Audi A5 3.0 TDI quattro 1:49.2 ´07 239 / 1610 Autozeitung
VW Golf GTI Edition 30 1:49.2 ´07 230 / 1332 Autozeitung
Audi A4 (B8) Avant 3.0 TDI quattro 1:49.3 ´08 239 / 1740 Autozeitung
BMW 330i (e92) Coupe automatic 1:49.4 ´07 276 / 1485 Autozeitung
Audi TT Roadster 3.2 quattro (Mk I) 1:49.6 ´04 250 / 1560 Autozeitung
Audi S4 (B6) Avant 1:49.6 ´03 344 / 1720 Autozeitung
BMW 530d 1:49.7 ´05 231 / 1565 Autozeitung
BMW X5 4.8i E70 1:49.75 ´07 355 / 2420 Autozeitung
Audi Q5 3.0 TDI quattro 1:49.8 ´08 239 / 1865 Autozeitung
BMW 123d 1:49.9 ´07 204 / 1489 Autozeitung

Among SUVs it is clearly setting the standard for both car like driving style and car like handling.

^^^

Thanks Footie. That's actually a good time for the Q5. I just wish it looked a little less cheap and bland. S-line looks hot, but I think overall that market is pretty bad in design (X3, GLK, Q5).

I just can't make my mind up about the Q5, I agree that S-Line helps it a lot and probably makes it the best looking SUV on sale but none are a thing of beauty.

According to the dealer friend of mine he says it looks a lot better than the bigger Q7 and I don't mind it's looks so I will probably like the Q5 in real life.

I agree, but driving my car right now with snow all over the place, it is a snow plough. Its scraping the bottom in back roads and hitting the front lip with big ice chunks. It would be nice to have something different.

The bigger SUV's consume way too much fuel. A TDI version would be nice.

Just seen my first Q5 today. It was dark, but it looked okay. Better than its rivals, but yep bland!
