FIBA Semifinal: Greece-101 USA-95
First off congrats to Greece for playing an excellent game. They executed brilliantly and embarrassed our defense with the same play all game.
Once again we have the most talent on the floor but we manage to: A) Play piss poor defense B) Shoot incredibly bad (59% from the FT line!? -- I don't even wanted to talk about their 3pt. shooting.) These kinds of results aren't a surprise anymore. Until team USA learns how to shoot, play defense, and team basketball again we will be merely a talented competitive team that will no longer threaten for gold medals or championships. |

Actually, they know how to play all that. What they need is to realize they are now playing for their country not for $10M as they are used to. Look at Dirk or Gasol, all over the place. Our boys looked like they were afraid of any potential injuries to their expensive body parts...

I find it interesting how one loss makes the US team such a disappointment (and I'm a non-american). I agree that their goal was gold, as it should be, but 7-1 is pretty good. I mean, if you look at the NBA, even the worst teams win 20 games a year, meaning that on any given night, any team can beat any other team.
If it were a 7 game series the US would have taken it 4-1. It's like March Madness - upsets happen all the time, and usually just because the higher seeded team had a bad game.

Just because you're the most talented team, doesn't always mean you win. It's just excruciating watching a team with superior talent screw up. I am in total agreemnet with about the dunk/layup comment and our shooting. |

No fucking way. The problem with today's athletes is that they just don't give a shit. Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and the likes couldn't stand losing at ANYTHING. No, I'm glad the USA team lost.
