The Evo is an awesome car, i've always wanted to try one for a couple years. You'll never know whether you llike it or not until you own it. Then you can get the experience, and move on later.

Buy the Evo X and have-at-it. You won't be disappointed. I had an Evo IX RS for a couple of years and ran it for autocrossing. The car was a BLAST. Rough and raucous. I test drove the Evo X and Evo X MR and they are a blast. I only bought the 1er because i wanted something more refined.

Thanks Dave. Nobody matches BMW balancing luxury/refinement and sportiness. In 2-3yrs I'll probably be ready for the BM. I'm still doing some more research.

I cross-shopped EVO X weeks before my 135i delivery. Went down to a Mitsu dealership and sat in one. From the exterior the car is mean as hell even the regular lancer is quite a looker. The interior is what sealed the deal on the BMW. I am not even the luxury type of guy but the EVO's interior is seriously lacking compared even to its Japanese counter parts, Corolla and Civic. If you can overlook interior and build quality for the next 2-3 years then by all means buy the EVO. I would have but I couldn't stand being inside that car.

Call me crazy but lately I have been looking at other cars and it has been only 9 month. I would like a LR LR2 for some offroad capabilities or a the Z4M.

There's a saying that I think fits this thread perfectly.

"You don't buy an Evo for it's interior."

Yes, it's better than the past models but it's still all about the engine and drivetrain.

I agree with this, if you're an enthusiast the Evo is one of those cars that you should own at some point in your life.

I'm cracking up at the "ricer" comments.

a civic, with a grapefruit launcher = rice.

a well designed and engineered sports car, that is very capable of competing, isn't rice IMO.

when people called me ricer in my STI, I laughed... they mostly had no idea what the car could do. i laughed at them most when i was able to drive in 4 inches of snow up hills.

the spoiler is what most people consider to be the most ricer part... but on the sti and evo they are functional and add significant downforce (read the evo 8 vs evo rs vs evo mr comparison)

wind tunnel comarison (a few years old)

back on topic, i like the new EvoX what i didnt like was they wouldnt let me sit in it at the auto show in detroit.... i could sit in the new STI, hell i sat in the new Jag coupe, but the evo was too good to sit in?

With Mitsu quality the way it is, the car would have been destroyed by the end of the show...just my humble opinion...a previous EVO 8 owner.

Who had-

PO300 problem never fixed

Fried clutch at 2000 miles, been driving a clutch for over 30 years, never replaced a clutch in any car owned ever, hell it was barely out of break-in miles and yet it was my fault, jerks.

Front end clunk, never properly diagnosed

Squeaks and rattles all over

The car rocked when it was working though. 200% more fun than the 135i imo. Especially that steering rack, what a joy that was! It understeered (of course) but with the same amount, in the same way, very predictable with very high limits.

previous 8 owner as well... too bad these cars didn't come with a 6 spd manual else i would look at it a bit more... i feel it's priced high for the MR and the GSR... IMO the GSR should be 27k-28k msrp and the MR @ 32k base... 40k for a Mitsu is crazy...

I had no issues with my Evo. I put 52k miles on the stock clutch and launched at Pro Solo's for a couple of years. The Evo did have its share of noises but I knew that going in. My Subaru's (3) on the other hand ALL had to go back to the garage for various bugs.

Nicest pic ive ever seen of the EVO-X however, im not a big fan of the new bodystyle... but this pic does look rad! lol. I think if you really want the Evo go for it dude, the Bimmer has the power, performance and luxuries, the Evo has the power and performance. The Evos are a little over priced IMHO but theyre great performing cars... and im not sure who mentioned it, but reason ive never looked into mitsu was bc of quality but lately ive been impressed on well the Evos have been doing.
