Official 2010 GT-R Ringtime!

http://wot.motortrend.com/6519243/au...lap/index.html
Quote:
In its latest Nurburgring assault, the Japanese automaker shipped over a few of its JDM-spec GT-R supercars to the German track this week and safe to say, they've set the naysayers' record straight. Amazingly, during a run yesterday evening, the GT-R beat its previous 7min/29.03 sec mark set last year with a time of 7min/27.56 sec.
Freaking amazing considering the fact that the GT3 can still only manage a 7:40 time even after revision.

Oh and my guess is Porsche was there
Quote:
They also reportedly invited multiple international press figures and officials from other automakers just to make sure no shenanigans could be claimed.

This is all meaningless rubbish till we have an established medium of measuring lap times. Porsche knows the ring upside down and must have had a strong reason for saying what they did about the Laptimes being too good to be true.

I am sure they were invited to attend the rerun of the GT-R. If Porsche stays silent after this press release, my guess is that they have been proven wrong.

isnt there an established method of measuring lap times on the ring? ive seen the gtr videos and they look the same as any other timed lap from other manufacturers (namely GM and porsche).

Just cause Porsche didnt show up doesnt mean they werent invited to attend. Nissan's statement last year was an open invite.

Due to the weather conditions at the Nurburgring, testing has now stopped and will resume around April 2009. Nissan will be back at the Nurburgring testing both the standard GT-R and upcoming additional models. We look forward to welcoming more members of the media to join us for these test sessions, consistent with our transparency at previous test sessions.
And according to http://www.gtrblog.com/2009/04/16/ni...burgring-7-27/ maybe they were there? Who knows? Its possible the reps did not include Rohl.
