But more test drives and the fact that you get a 7% discount on ED M3's just pushed me in the direction.

Now I have an E92 M3 to do an ED on in about a month.
enjoy it!

THat's probably the ONLY thing I don't like about the c63, is that the front fender is way bigger than the rear fender.... I mean what were they thinking??? Besies that, it's sex on wheels!

+1. It's like an m3 front, with 328 rear.

I'll agree with most of the points made above though. It's no surprise that the Merc would be a better cruise and relax car.

I personally think the M3 looks better aesthetically though.
I believe the Performance Package on the 63 comes with a LSD.

I am a coupe guy so the C63 was not even an option. The M3 coupe is just amazing... torque?....hmmmm..it's good... All I can say is thank god I wasn't looking for a sedan, it probably would have been a no brainer...

Someones opinion:

On the street, the optional AMG performance suspension that comes with the Performance package is just too bloody hard. Any sort of imperfection is transmitted in the form of a kidney punch through very aggressively bolstered front seats. There's no subtlety or compliance here.

It would be easy to say "Don't buy the AMG Performance package." After all, the standard AMG suspension worked great on a C63 we drove on the track recently, and it still has the tires, forged aluminum wheels, widened track and other chassis improvements.

But then you'd miss out on things we like about the Performance package (the suede-covered steering wheel) and things we need (the limited-slip differential.) After all, two stripes of burned rubber are always better than one. If the differential was available as a stand-alone option, the choice would be easy.

Buy the differential after-market and your done. Or, buy an M3. lol!

Can you get the LSD as a standalone option?

Wouldn't it be possible to just say I want the performance package but please don't include the AMG suspension?

Just curious, is there a bodykit that makes the rear fender as large as the front fender?

Yeah, it's not perfect though:

Yea that is about as much as software will get you. With the C63, the huge impediment is ECU and headers that are relatively restrictive compared to other 63 models. ECU reflash plus headers will cost you at least $10K (List for about $15K) depending on vendor (i.e., Brabus, Kleemann, Renntech, etc..). However, any of those three will yield you a least 530bhp that is not to shabby compared to the stock +/- 457bhp. I also wonder who the first to go FI with these 63 engines will be. If there are tuners that are going FI on the S65 NA M3 engine (12:1 Compression ratio), I donīt see why they couldnīt do the same with the 6.2L AMG engines.

good write up

the m3 is more easily moddable and cheaper

in case you haven't looked into it, performance parts for mercedes aren't as widely made, and therefore the prices are just ridiculous.

Why ever would you say that? If anything, the M3 is more expensive to mod (headers and ECU along will get you to 530ish bhp and still NA). However, I agree that the M3 is a more dedicated machine and a much better chassis/platform to work off of. But by no means less expensive to mod.
