I think it's almost guaranteed that the M5 will receive X5/X6 M engine(4.4 V8 =550hp). I dont think they will go out of the way to develope a new TT V10. Just my opinion.

Nothing short of a V-10 will coax my credit card out of my wallet.

As much as I want to agree with you, I think the M5 moniker is a halo brand and its equity around the world is comparable to the marques coming out of Maranello, S'ant Agata and Stuttgart. That is why I want to beleive this article. This will get the M5 dangerously close into supercar territory and the forced induction will appease even the most arduous fanatics. I cant wait to see how many torques this thing has. Hopefully it wont be heavier than the E60

I think its more due to weight vs time on the track. I think it would be badass on a roadcar. Also, there are so many limitations with it in F1, in the real world i think there could be more boost and for longer.

Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director and team principal of BMW Sauber) ...
"There has been success in the transfer of KERS technology (to BMW's road car division)," he said. "Our engineers are supporting the research and development in Munich and that will continue for some time. What has been learned can be used not only for hybrid cars, but also for electric and conventional cars," said Theissen.

i read about it somewhere, that they will use the same engine as in the x5/x6 M but they are gonna upgrade to power output somehow to 600bhp, possibly larger turbos, larger intercooler ect.
