Got a ticket
So I was driving down palmetto park Rd in Boca (Fl) when I got cought in a speed trap. I was doing 52 in a 35 ticket was $165. The cops were hiding in the bushes and there was no traffic in front of me, so my radar detector did me no good. Im going to do traffic school to prevent points on my license.
I have had my e90 for a little over a year and its my first ticket. I was wondering how many of you guys have gotten a ticket....if you did: -how long have you had your car -do you have a radar detector -how fast were you going -how many tickets I'm just curious to see...

Sorry 'bout that, man. Palmetto Park Rd., east of Powerline Rd. (going east I assume) is known for speed traps...not sure if that's where you got caught, but anyhow, just do the online driving course if you can and move on.

This thread will lead to inevitable bragging about things not worth bragging about. So I am not bragging but I will say that my E90 led to my first ticket in 15+ years. I was bummed. Cop said 73 in a 50 and I said, "Well, you must have clocked me after I was slowing down, because I was going way faster than that!"
Actually, I didn't really say that. I said "yes, sir" and "no, sir" and I still got the ticket. He wrote it up for 70 in a 50, which sucks because 20mph or more over the limit is a serious offense in VA. I went to court and had it reduced to 19mph over. Ticket cost me a couple of hundred bucks, a lawyer another couple of hundred, and it took a bunch of points off my license. I'm thinking about doing the stupid online driving course to restore my license back to pre-ticket points. I'm still bummed about it and I've tried to avoid being the fastest car on any stretch of road at any time since then.

A friend of mine does the lawyer thing... he has had a few tickets! He justs hands it off to the lawyer and usually it gets dropped, so no points and no need for the school option. One time the lawyer couldn't fight it, so he had to pay the ticket, pay the lawyer, but no points still and no school.

I didn't know any section of Palmetto had a 35mph speed limit. That stinks
I got a ticket for running a red light on Glades when I was late for a final exam. I know it was wrong but it wasn't like red where it was dangerous, and I'm probably the last person anyone would expect to get a ticket for anything because I'm such a cautious driver. I never speed or run lights. Anyways I brought it to a ticket lawyer and they got it taken care of for $75 no points against my license or anything. It was in the summer, so I had my car for about 8 months.

I've never gotten a speeding ticket, ever. Knock on wood I guess I'm lucky and cautious at the appropriate time. However I did get a ticket several years ago for not stopping at a pedestrian crosswalk when a small girl decided to run across the thing, without first pressing the crossing light button and making sure traffic has stopped. Ironically the cop told me I was doing 42km/h in a 40km/h zone and couldn't understand why I didn't stop... oh well... $350 and 3 demerits, so I took it to X-Copper and for a $300 fee that knocked it down to "Improper Stop" and no demerits.

First one last year for 69 on 60. My kid started crying when she saw the cops because she saw the Cops show on TV. The lady cop was nice and gave her a teddy bear with Dallas Police badge, then she said this one is for your daddy -- $295 ticket. Did the driving school, all together cost me $140. I returned from China last Sunday and got busted on Monday (half asleep) doing 83 on 60. MOFO started lecturing me how it is dangerous...and I said just write me the damn ticket before I fall asleep. I don't even want to know how much it will be (in TX you call in to find out the price...). I hope they will let me take the school, otherwise I will have to find me one of those attorneys to take care of it... Interesting thing about the second one was that the whole line of cars was doing the same speed and he jumped right behind me (I was in the middle of the line...) |

almost got one about a month ago. it's a funny story which might be hard to believe for anyone outside Eastern Europe.
I was driving from my friend's place in Bratislava (Slovakia) and going to my place (Budapest, Hungary). At one place before you get out of Bratislava there is 80 km/h limit although the road looks like the highway already. Of course I forgot about it and of course they pulled me over. I was doing 108 km/h and the cops started talking about seizing my license and that I will be banned to drive in Slovakia for a year and get a fine of 7.000 slovak crowns (about USD 300). They acted the good cop, bad cop story very well I got scared a bit but started telling them that there must be other ways to solve this. After about 5 mins he said that he can write down that I am not an European Union citizen and then they can't take my license. I was happy with that but still tried pushing for "what else can we do about this". After another 5 mins he lowered the fine down to USD 100 and asked me whether I need a receipt. I told him no, gave him his USD 100 and took off. He even warned me that there is another car with radar on that road and to be careful |
