"Yes, Dear"
Did you already register at the hospital? Get all th paperwork out of the way so you can just rush in there when the water breaks. Protective seat coverings for the drive to the hospital after the water breaks. "Yes, Dear" |

"Oh boy, here it comes, another mouth." -Homer Simpson
"Congratulations Mr. Griffin, it's a girl!" "Can you, can you check again?" -Peter Griffin Put the rest of your life on 'pause'. You'll be allowed to press 'play' intermittently. Travel during the first 3 months - baby very portable. Force your wife to sleep when the baby does. She will be more crabby with less sleep. Encourage breast feeding for as long as possible. It will give you more sleep. Don't try to hold a baby and use a keyboard, too frustrating. Get a DVR. Netflix may help. You'll be holding the baby a lot, without able to do much else. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, holding your baby. Enjoy it. |

If she does breast feed, sleep with the baby in your bed the first year +. Then when there is a little cry at 1:43 a.m., wifey just rolls over and the noise goes away. She still gets rest, as do you.
BUT, be careful to get the kid out once the breastfeeding stops. My boy will be 10 in September, and I spend WAY more nights in his bed than my own. |

i agree with the statement above - don't get the kid too used to sleeping with you or your wife.
I ended up buying a king size bed where I ususally wake up with my whole family (wife and 2 kids)... That being said - Congrats. Hope you went to the class offered by the hospital that you're delivering at. Get the go-bag ready and relax - Get as much sleep as you possibly can right now. The interrupted sleep paterns with the infant is shocking to the system. Having a kid is the biggest impact on your lifestyle. The positives definitely outweight the negatives, but its a big change. Get the baby room all set up? Get the "Baby Bargains" book - very good for giving advice on what you should and should not buy...

Grats first and foremost. I'm gonna tell you something that you're not gonna belive until you feel it. You are not gonna want sex with your wife after witnessing birth for at least a few weeks so don't be too disinterested or she'll go post-part paranoia on you. Trust me on this one. |

Really appreciate all the warm thoughts guys.
The wife had another check-up today. The baby is perfectly healthy and in the correct position. Only 3 more weeks until the due date. We think the baby was conceived doggy style. From what I hear, most women tend to go late with the first one. I am absolutely ready now...but I have a feeling she is going to go well past the 8/22 date. We could not be more excited. |

No matter how EXHAUSTED I got with my son, I was always subliminally aware of where he was in the bed. Even though she never told me, I was even aware when my wife dumped him on the floor after rolling over while he was still "attached" one night. And I am TERIIBLY ADDICTED to sleep. . . but to each his own.
